Hi Michelle! I've watched so many video's on making coasters, and Yours was by far, the best one out there! Thanks for explaining the directions so clearly.

So glad you had fun making your tiles!!!! I do like the natural look that you get without spraying them and since heating them "seals" the stamping in, it seems to work. I also like the natural tendency of the marble to absorb the condensation and was afraid that if I used a sealer, the water from condensation would just sit on top of the tile and then drip when you pick up a glass. Hope that helps! Let me know if you decide to seal them - I'd be curious how it works!

Thanks, want to stamp some tiles for coasters and I live in Florida, land of humidity, where a coaster does double duty, protecting furniture and absorbing condensation from the drinking glass. Many advisors out there suggested glazing that would make the stone nonabsorbent, and not what I need. Bake them to set the ink! :~)

That's great that you were able to create them without baking! May I ask if you used only black Staz-On or if you used different colors as well? I am always curious to find out how the different colors stand up to being baked/not baked! I haven't had much luck with one of the green colors whether I bake it or not. If it is left in the sun it tends to fade. Thanks for the great tip and thanks for watching! Michelle :)

Thanks for watching and for asking about the wedding favors :) I like like making things that are useable after an event, so something attendees could take and use after the wedding would be great. Maybe a stamped fabric bookmark that says "love?" (I'd be happy to make a video). It could be made with or w/out sewing. Let me think on it some more :) It would also be helpful to know what the bride & groom like - it might stimulate some additional creative thinking :)

Thanks for your question! If the ceramic tiles are glazed I find that the Staz-on can be scratched off. If you want to give it a try on ceramic tiles, I might suggest spraying the tiles with a sealer after stamping on them and letting the ink dry. I would not bake them in the oven if I was making them this way since the sealer would be enough. Let us know if you give it a try! Good luck!

The Medallion stamp was from Stampin' Up! but it has since retired. You might be able to find a used one on a site like ebay. The surface area of the stamp image itself is about 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". Hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear that the ink hasn't been cooperating. The finish on the tile can make a big difference. Some tumbled marble tiles have a shine to them and they don't seem to be porous enough for the ink to "stick," so no matter how long you bake them, the ink will fade/come off. I find that the more porous tiles - the ones that have holes and don't have any shine to the surface work much better. You might try using some type of matte finish spray sealer on them - that might do the trick!

Hello.... I just made 4 of these. FUN! Can I just ask you why you don't spritz them with a matte gloss (or any kind of finish spray) Is it just that you like the more rough look rather than a shiny look? Just curious. Thank you very much. Your tutorial is great!

It's not absolutely necessary to bake the tiles - since stazon is a solvent ink it is permanent and waterproof when it dries. See a video by stamptv - she actually dunks the tiles in water and rubs them after the ink dries. Also I recommend adding a little glue to the felt feet - I don't trust the glue that comes on the feet :)

I've watched all of your videos. I'm looking to make wedding favors for my friend's wedding. I wanted to ask your opinion. What "Stamped Item" would you make as a wedding favor? I would like to make something economical, as I will be making 150-175. The only thing I have an abundance of is time! So, I'm okay with a taxing project. It is worth it all!

I just came across this video when looking for options to make coasters and was wondering if it worked the same on ceramic tiles as on the ones you are using

I made several of these BEFORE watching your video and unfortunately under baked them (200 for 20 min.) and the ink came off when I put a glass on it. I made tons for Mother's Day gifts and now I don't know what to do. I never had this problem with the retired craft pads from Stampin Up but the StazOn pads don't seem to "stay on" as well. I have all the felt pads on them already. Is there something I could spray on top of them to protect the ink and keep it from coming off when wet?

Thank you! First time subscriber here… Have a quick question, please? Are you sure you don’t have to seal these.? I’ve been watching a lot of these type videos and they always seal. There’s seems to be so much conflicting info on this. They say hot drinks will ruin if not sealed correctly and will even become sticky. Sorry, second question: I have Versafine ink. Can I stamp on tiles with this , without having a problem? I think I’d like to do a bit of painting on some of the tiles. Just selective. Will it run? So appreciate your help. Thank youp

Thanks for your question! I apologize for my delayed response. I'm curious what is causing being afraid. If it is using your food oven for crafts, then I share that concern. I have a small older toaster oven that I use as a designated oven for crafting projects. I am not sure, but you might also be able to heat set it using a heat tool/heat gun. I have never done that though...so I'm not sure how long you would have to heat it for. If you have found another method for setting the ink, please feel free to share it! Thanks for watching :)
