Hi Mary! The type I used is called Bottochino. I know there are several other types...as long as they are tumbled marble, you are good. You may have to go through the boxes a bit to pull out ones that aren't too "hole-y". HTH! Catherine

I love that you left the imperfect stamp as is for us to see. I have had several turn out like that and just said hey were suppose to be like that.

Super tutorial.....a question ..how do you clean your stamps after using stazon
@tc0p10 жыл бұрын
I know this video is kind of old but what stamps are you using? I love the monograming and doily...and the leaf filigree stamps too.

Is there an alternative to Stazon? Maybe, Versafine? Also, can you use the 4x4 shiny white tiles? Thank you 💕

Hi do you need to varnish or resin the tiles? And can this also be done on smooth ceramic tiles? Thanks so much!

Love the idea can you please put Description on everything that you got from like stamps and the ink Thank you 😊

I'm so glad you enjoyed the projects! This video is 9 years old, so I'm sure most of the stamps aren't available any longer. Any archival ink will work for this idea! Good luck!

Love the coaster idea..The tiles I found at Lowe's had a lot holes and would not stamp well because of the imperfections...What brand of tile are you using?...Thanks Mary

Thanks for the video! Got a question - have you ever tried stamping on a smooth, ceramic type tile? If so, would there be any special treatment to keep the image intact?

Thanks you for this video. Could you share your stamp details & also will this technique work on all types of tiles?
@stampnationcpd686510 жыл бұрын
You are welcome! If you click the link below the video you can see more details on my blog. Basically, you need StazOn ink and any fun stamps will do! You need tumbled tiles. Hope that helps!

Can you use the color markers to add some color? Would there be a need to fire them in an oven for any other technique? Thanks for the video!!
@CatherinePooler11 жыл бұрын
If you use Sharpie markers, you can add color. Waterbased markers won't work. Thanks!

Catherine! I just tried this (literally, like 3 minutes ago), and was wondering where you get your tiles, or if you know the particular brand name? The ones I found at Home Depot have holes in the top, and therefore don't pick up the ink/stamp at all. I was wondering if it was just the certain brand I picked up, or if you sand yours down. Thanks!

+sass000 it's an old Stampin' Up set...pretty sure it's retired. SOrry! There are tons of stamps on the market, though, that would be great for this!

Can you use Travertine tile (like from Home Depot)? If so, does it have to be a smoothe finish, or can it be holey (I bought the holey kind, but not too holey)? Also, do you have to seal it? Thank you.

Love new things, thanks for the tip!

Does the ink smear or where off when a hot beverage is put on it? You are not sealing over the top of the stamp, correct?
@CatherinePooler6 жыл бұрын
Depends on the ink you use and the type of tile...make sure it's a permanent ink. If the tile is slick, you'll probably have to seal them. Hope that helps!
@heidiyoung37207 жыл бұрын
Will the ink smear or smudge in use? I want tile coasters that are absorbent so I don't really want to seal them with anything.
@heidiyoung37207 жыл бұрын
In case anyone is wondering, I made these and have used several times with out smudging or smearing. Once the ink is set, it is good to go!

This is a great tutorial... and I enjoyed it very much... Can I give you a "Tip"? You're lighting from below... Filmmakers use this technique to show ominous feelings... People (feel) more comfortable when "Light" comes from Natural source... like the Sun or the Moon light hence, (from above ) more of an angelic feeling... Light coming from below, is usually unnatural... it IS used as a "key" light with 2 other lights, (usually from each side of the person.... Just a thought... "Thank YOU" for sharing this great tutorial... ;)
@CatherinePooler7 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Judi! This video is 5 years old and I'm not sure why I used lighting like that! I don't usually...interesting thoughts, thanks for sharing!

Once stamp is on can you add a cost or two of modge podge?
@CatherinePooler8 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure Mod Podge is water based, so when your coaster gets wet, it will ruin it. You can try a clear acrylic sealer. Hope that helps!
@honeybear321110 жыл бұрын
