A family friend of ours was part of Liverpool (NY) PD and told me that what they derived from the investigation was that the 'assailants' were likely from Fort Drum Army base (about 1 hour north of the club). Shawn was highly inebriated and what they had heard was he grabbed some woman at the club inappropriately and the boyfriend wanted to kick Shawn's ass. The wrestlers tried to hightail it out of there and the boyfriend saw Shawn in the car and dragged him out and beat the shit out of him by himself. The other 'assailants' were there to make sure the other wrestlers didn't step in. Essentially he didn't get beat up by 9 marines. He got beat up by 1 army soldier.

Yeah, that's pretty much the consensus now. By all accounts, Davy Boy couldn't be the equalizer because he couldn't get out of the back seat of the two-door car.

When this went down the report was hbk was trying to hook up with either the waitress or bartender, the service men were there and that was one of their girlfriends. Trash talk happened when the military guys started saying how fake wrestling is . Who knows what was said in return. When they were outside the guys blocked Davey Boy from leaving the car while HBK was jumped.

I'm sure it happened, it's part of a police report, whatever details may or may not be true is another thing. I'd bet it's safe to say though that knowing what Shawn Michaels was like back then, as someone who almost got his ass handed to him on more than one occasion because of his bs and attitude (to steal a phrase) probably got what was coming to him, and I'm sure that the boys in the locker room weren't very surprised at all!

I believe there was a fight, but, while I never condone any sort of violence, I believe Hikenbottom brought it all upon himself. Also, didn't Hickenbottom have make up applied to make him appear worse? Didn't he furthermore suffer a "relapse" when he was due to do a "job" for somebody?
