This morning, I expected Gentaro and Kintaro to play a lot because of the nice weather, but I was wrong. Gentaro was very quiet and kept his distance not only from Kintaro but from the whole family. In the end, though, he did play with Kintaro a little bit.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)　
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
　　
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)　　　
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

All of them could have better lives than living in that small cage...It make me so sad. Humans spend more on themselves than the animals that need us to survive. Japan is a wealthy nation,they could have the best zoo's if they tried.

I think he's not happy, this family is sweet but also a desaster themselves, except Kintaro who has a good relationship with all of the other ones doesn't bear each other, but mostly due to Momotaro's uncommon gorilla behaviour. Gentaro's clearly so sad and you can't find his expressions in other gorilla 😢

Maybe this is just his thinking face and not a sad face and maybe we humans are putting things on him that aren’t true for an animal. I’m sure he might feel sad or upset that his mom is sick for instance but I can’t imagine he can think ahead about having a wife and family and living away from his family. He probably just has vague feelings that he wants something but not what it is that he is missing. Kind of like we, as humans, sometimes feel as teenagers, that there is more to life out there, but we don’t know what. We just have a vague feeling when we are growing. I’m sure kids these days have more of an idea than I did 60 years ago what is ahead of them. But we all love Gentaro and his wonderful family and are so grateful for Gorilla Life for allowing us to be part of their life in some way!

I think it is time for Gentaro and Annie to be introduced. They were both raised by humans and have great personalities. They would make nice babies! I think Gentaro would be an exceptional father.

That’s a cute idea but not a good idea. The family tree will have one branch in Japan if they keep doing things like that. Annie and Gentaro share aunts and uncles from opposite sides of the family. It’s too close. It would just delay a larger problem in the future.

Kiyo seems to try to mate with the females in his family and Riki does the same. Are they going to just let the family line die out, not being mean but they maté anyway soo at least they be gorillas, sad for them not to have any family, can they come to the USA
