When you hear these interpretations acoustically it not only brings out the beauty of the music but the beauty of Hunter's lyrics.

Perfect voice for this song. There's a handful of Garcia tunes that I consider either hands off or very hard to cover...Black Peter, So Many Roads, and a few others. This is one of them. I have not heard an Althea that Jerry didn't lead, that gave the song any justice. This gives the song justice, very much so. Thank you!

Reid, I think, is referring to my cat named Althea, whom he met during high school in Chappaqua, NY: "now there's lots of blond-haired kids running around San Francisco named Althea... prior to that, there were only cats!" Althea was a stray who showed up at our kitchen window in the winter of 1986. Althea was supposed to stay for only one night, until we found his owners. He wound up staying with us for the rest of his life. He was the smartest, most noble cat I've ever met. It's so nice to see and hear Reid looking and sounding so good after so many years. I remember when he started playing guitar and singing at Greeley high school. Those were good times.
