@arturlapurinsh3310 This is a common observation, and there is substantial evidence to suggest that Michael Jackson wrote many of the tracks for Sonic 3. It's an interesting story, worth googling! To be clear, whether or not it IS a Jackson song all the composers that worked on the Genesis Sonic games were a cut above both in terms of understanding the Genesis sound system and composing.
@juneru2 Жыл бұрын
@@hoorayforhawksbills I don't think this one's an MJ song, since MJ's Act 2's are always stripped down versions of the Act 1 music. SEGA's music team usually makes the Act 2 of a level it's own vibe when compared to its Act 1 music.

What strikes me is the level of independence between the different parts - the counterpoint is awesome. It's never just backing and a melody on top, there's always at *least* 3 independent parts doing their own thing, yet fitting together perfectly. Can't help but call to mind Gershwin's idea of a fusion of classical and jazz; Sonic 3's music is like the melodic independence of baroque music combined with the funkiness of blues and jazz. The result is that there isn't a single boring part of the track - as soon as one part takes a breath, another takes over, and they become one coherent melody (technical term being a hocket).

Hydrocity Zone Act 2 is easily one of if not the most complex Sonic 3 songs. Only "noobs" hate water levels anyway. ***** The reason he might say they "for noobs" (though I disagree) is that Water levels tend to be more complex because they use the nature of water in some way that influences the structure of the level and you need to manipulate it rather than just proceeding as normal. Or in the case of sonic, you need to focus on either getting to the next air bubble or out within the next 18 seconds as opposed to going fast. You really have to know th elevel and plan your run accordingly, which people don't do.

There's definitely something about the way that the stage starts off in the enclosed wall section and then opens up to show you the background and fast sections just as the "best" part (around 0:22) kicks in (and the rumbling of the wall disappears), which definitely adds a lot to the feeling of that part and embeds itself into your head in a way that you always instinctually visualise and relive when you listen to it

I don't think people understand how important this track was. As much as I love the music from the first 2, Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) has such great music that it simply cannot be described in mere words. ***** That's what I was hearing! And the people who worked sonic explained he used to get really giddy and send in work in progress versions of songs and stuff but then didn't want his name on the final release because he heard the quality of the music and expected... something higher def? I'll try and find the video that explained it all and send it your way

i swear i thought i was the only one who thought so much of video game music, even as a 5 year old kid in '95, i never thought id see the day where I wouldn't have to plug up my system, and go to "options" to hear these songs, thank God for techno-advances and genuine people who have genuine memories of genuine times! Peace & Love from NC, Sincerely, A 90s baby ✌🏾

The entire Sonic 3 soundtrack is amazing. From all the Sonics i think this has the very best soundtrack!
@Zefurin12 жыл бұрын
If you really hear the songs from this game, you can recognize some pop sounds and rythm typically from MJ's composition. Of course, he wasn't the only one guy on the soundtrack, but there is clearly something from him (a little from Jam, a little from Another Part of Me, etc...).
