Sonic Adventure 2 - Why Can’t I get Above a D Rank!?

So how the ranking system works is by score. The higher your ending score in each stage, the better your ranking will be. Every time you die, when your restart at a checkpoint (post-finding an emerald shard for Knuckles or Rouge), your score resets to zero. There are several things you can do to improve your score for each character: Sonic/Shadow: look for shorter routes to get you to the goal ring in a faster time Tails/Eggman: chain shooting combos to get big point bonuses. Chaining 11 enemies alone will net you an extra 2000 points Knuckles/Rouge: search for the emerald shards without using any of the hint monitors; using these will reduce the point bonus for finding each one. Though taking too long to search for them will also reduce that bonus. Best of luck!

aaaa i didnt know all that! no wonder i kept on getting such low scores lol

Specifically on Metal Harbor, you'll likely get a D or E unless you manage to take the alternative path at the top by the rocket. There's a line of robots that leads to an alternate path that will get you a great score boost!

i suck at the game so getting a lot of rings was probably impossible lol, ill take your word on using shortcuts to get score boosts
