i have been skeptical about sonic frontiers in the past, and after an argument with a few people regarding my skepticism about it, i decided to sit down and try it for myself.

Yep, clearly total lack of skill, toped with being a sour Mario Fan wanting to bash a Sonic game (going as far as bringing Mario Kart to the comparaison while the only game it can be compared are the Sonic and Sega All Star Racing and Team Sonic Racing games, that are at least as goo as MK) life if it was still the era of the Nintendo-Sega console war, while clearly not being born at the time from both the sound of his voice and how much he talk about graphics. At best a 2D only, and as much as I like the 2D era Sonic games, those guys can't be reasoned when you don't talk about Mania or the 2D/3D games having mostly 2D stages (like Generation). im completely baffled and have no idea why this was on my recommended but this review seems really ingenuine. you're literally blaming the game because you're bad within the first 3 minutes also blatantly ignore mechanics such as the options setting where you can literally CHANGE SONIC'S SPEED. then you begin blaming obstacles and challenges. if you hate the adventure game genre, DO NOT PLAY ADVENTURE GAMES THEN. it's that simple. i watched someone play it for the first time and they didn't even whine about the things you're whining about. it would've been fine if you just said "this isn't my cup of tea" but blaming the game for being too hard for you is really idiotic.

The issue of the pop in is a good critisism, but the everything else... Really? I know opinions matter and all, but here's why I disagree with this review... For the most part. My wording may seem like i'm right, you're wrong, but I never really gave counter reviews before, since noone game critisism of this caliber before, but here I go. Have fun reading this wall of text I flooded your comment section with. Again, pop in is a real issue, I get that. But, you're complaining about graphics and it being a collectathon? Dude, this game isn't even close to being that. You get collectables at a rather smooth pace as you'll fling into obstacle courses within the open zone to gain memory tokens. Plus, if you manage to get alot of purple tokens, you can fish with big to speed up the process by a ton. As for graphics... It's really a harsh nitpick, as the graphics look fine enough. I think you just expected a little too much out of sega. As for Ashura, like, im sorry dude but major skill issue. For me, I caught onto the boss's rules quickly and adjusted my plans accordingly when I fell off or got hit. Running up it and avoiding the red hoops are really easy once you actually know what to do. For me, I boost over the red hoops on the ground, then aim myself toward the middle. And as for the red energy balls... I never really knew they even existed, as I took advantage of the fact that once you climb to the top, you shoot upward so I can homing attack the weak point. Same with the ray shields, I never really had an issue with it, as I homing attacked to stay out of the shield's range. Note: I played without the bonuses, I could only homing attack as an attack. As for the upgrades, your take on the speed upgrade is kindof.. I can't say it's bad or anything, yeah in universe, Sonic shoving an emerald in pocketspace makes no sense, but it's a videogame. Besides, getting the speed and ring upgrades are an incentivization to upgrade Sonic's speed, and max rings for the harder bosses along with max defense. And as for the speed, yeah, having it is not any faster, only a smidge for me, but then again, I did play on the max speed settings. As for the voice cast... Nitpick. Does it matter if the voices sound "off"? Then again, the only thing different is Sonic with a deeper tone, but he still sounds like Sonic and not an entirely different character. Then it would seem off, but it's just Sonic with a slightly deeper tone. I can't say for sure what makes a game fun, as it is subjective, but the whole fun of Sonic games is going fast and "speedrunning", if you're into that. Sonic Frontiers finds fun in traversing the land in many ways, trying to not get hit as you fight enemies, and stunning spectacle in the game. I personally found fun in those things. And the Super Sonic boss fights were just plain amazing, as I cannot describe how I felt when the rock kicked in and I was fighting Giganto. It seems to me that open world collectathons isn't really for you, as many others found enjoyment in the whole experience. Don't get me started on comparing Mania to Frontiers in the fun factor... Excuse me while I laugh like a mad man. Note that this whole take i'm about to make is very subjective and not everyone will agree with me, but Sonic Mania didn't even have a storyline besides the phantom ruby transporting you into different locations, Robotnik also screwing with you, and facing off the Heavy Robos (I forgot their names :/). Frontiers has a lot more going for it, story wise, island design wise, and definitly fun wise. And no, the game does not take itself too seriously. Like, what? No the heck it does not. Look, I agree that Sonic Generations was the last good Sonic game, but comparing Forces to Frontiers, it is a GOD send we didn't get another terrible game like that one again, and considering you didn't even play through the entire game first to see what else it has in store? Like, dude. I'm laughing out of my seat. I know you said it's laughable to even say this, but you're claims of this game are also laughable. You didn't even play through the game at all, as the combat gets more spicier and more challenges as the game goes on, and somehow the level design gets tedious as I run into a hidden boost pad and get sent into a 2D section, but still, you didn't even experience the entire package. Funniest thing is. you literally have one or two people in the comments who agree with you. And the ones you respond to, you continuously give more bad takes on the game. Wow, that's a lot of sentence I wrote. Have fun debating me on why you're right lol

tl;dr, this game sucks lol and yes, i will absolutely compare mania to frontiers because it whooped forces and it whips frontiers the graphics are absolutely terrible, sega is a triple AAA studio that ships out great looking remakes of Yakuza every other minute, and yet sonic looks like someone screen recording Colors Wii. collectathon just makes this game incredibly unfun, you get the jist. ive said it a billion times in other comments, this game is an unfun mess.

When you realize that the guy only complains without giving valid reasons why something is wrong, it means that he did not give him the time or the effort to do a good analysis. Frontiers is not perfect for many reasons (it has too many bugs) and everyone who knows about it already knows. People like these who only want to attract attention by being an extreme opponent just because and who defend themselves with unsubstantiated arguments are the ones we should not be listening to. Many people only look at the bad to annoy others than if we spend time on what interests us. They do it because they have nothing more important to do with their time. Saying Frontiers is bad is an ok take but you didn't mention any of the real problems that this game has. You just nitpicked shit saying things didn't fit or were bad without explaining why. I think the game is alright, not worth 60 bucks, maybe 15 or 20 at best, has too many technical problems, combat isn't deep, the only thing interesting about it are the enemy's gimmicks which there aren't a lot of, the islands are just lifeless and empty with platforms and rails that don't fit and bounce pads can get in the way. Cyberspace levels are a mixed bag, some are good others are bad. There are some good things about Frontiers that kinda saves it, like giving you a lot of space to zoom around and experiment with the boost movement, combat feels nice even though it has a pathetic skill tree and you can beat every enemy with the deafult skills pretty easily. The game for now its ok, hopefully they build upon this and make a good sequel instead of throwing everything out of the window to make another bad to mediocre game, which they will if they listen to people who love to nitpick or talk shit about Sonic games to look insightful about the subject. Like people praising Legends Arceus and saying Forces is bad, even though most of the problems are shared with both games.

Ok really quick I am going to point out that you say the game is boring and confusing but there is a map and the game tells you what to do. I never got confused while playing, except for when I forgot I was playing a game and started to follow the side quests instead of the main quests lol. Sonic Frontiers is more fun than any other sonic game I've played except for SA2, but I still enjoy this more because of how it plays.

Also world 3 is still fun but it's the weakest part of the game for me. Also world 4 doesn't exist. And before I go this review kinda sucked not because it's against the game, because you had no good points, didn't finish, mostly nitpicking, (Skill issue) and didn't even try to enjoy it. And the review jokes weren't funny more like trying to be funny but keep rolling with it it will get better. Need to be more enthusiastic like your trying to make a good point. thank God for this review. Sonic tubers have become toxic. it's okay to like the games that Sega puts out but to shit on adventure fans in the process. The fanbase has been divided by Sonic tubers because they have a following and they can't say stuff like this or else those blind followers will try to cancel you. Wow an "In depth review" of the first 10 minutes of the game. Maybe you should play the entire game, then if you think it's trash people wouldn't nitpick on you. People like game critics play and look at the games every aspect becase thats the only way they can make a valid and good opinion about it,(positive or negative) you only played a little bit and yeah you got a point on Asura being a bad boss, but you didn't even tried to make it at least to the ending. A game is only fun if you let it be fun. Stopping at a very early point in the game takes away possible redeeming qualaties that you simply ignore. I can see that you put efforts into these videos but next time please try to make the most out of that "wasted" 60 dollars.

How did you die to asura? It just stands there. Im okay with you not liking the game this review just feels really uninformed. Like the point you bring up about finding stuff on the map is just wrong. If you fill the map up they tell you the location of every single token, guardian, emerald and side story. It also feels biased and condescending as shit when you go on that rant about people having the bar too low or something nobody is desparate for something better than forces that much, fans spent all of 5 years tearing that game apart nobody is settling, infact most people have agreed the game is 7/10 at best. Its flawed but its a good step in the right direction. The game has a good foundation and personally i think it was pretty fun. Was it worth 60$? Depends on who you ask. But i felt like i got my money's worth. Review feels really nitpicky to me. I wouldve just taken a "i think sonic frontiers sucks" followed by the video ending lmao.

Steam reviews arent really all that credible to me anyway theyre too personal its likely just a bunch of sonic fans simping over the game blindly rather that providing any kind of solid review. Every review site thats made a review for frontiers have pretty much settled on a 7/10 with a few 8s and a single 1. The the score its gotten on metacritic is a 72 last i checked. So i think the point still stands that game's overall reception is "good but could be better"

Keep in mind im not crying about you reviewing this game negatively. I have a ton of critiques for the game overall, I think combat couldve been fleshed out since you can definitely elect to spam and win if you want, thats lame. Cyberspace as a concept is fine but they should axe 2D levels and fix the physics. The open zone could be more vibrant and varied from an aesthetic and architectural standpoint since the floating rails and shit are really gaudy, the game starts to crash and burn hard after island 3(of 5), etc etc. I did agree that the collectathon nature of the game gets old fast. You have to be content with sonic's movement if you really want to have fun in open zone which ive seen be a pretty divisive topic among myself and friends who have played the game. So please dont take this as me trying to come to the rescue of a cartoon talking hedgehog i just dont think the intial review felt like the game was given a fair shake

These comments are SOOO delusional. the game is fixated for a certain Sonic fanbase. those who been playing since generations basically. skill wise or not, a kid couldn't play this game unless he's a core fan with the motivation to complete the game. this game is too dull for a casual to keep playing. Casuals will just buy their next big game, while older fans think this is dull and weak gameplay. No co op. no online multiplayer, no originality. looks like a soulless Zelda map. Look, comparing Frontiers to Generations, I get why people don't like it but coming from a guy who played the game for about 51.8 hours up until this point, Frontiers recaptures how it feels to play Sonic. Combat could use some work, and the story is confusing, but you really cannot say it's a bad game, flawed maybe, but not bad by any means.

here's a list of games that are on switch and dont look like hot trash; Art of Rally, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Doom Eternal, Lego Worlds, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and even sega's own Sonic Forces, just to name a few. its even funnier because in this video i state that this is running on pc at max graphics, which is pitiful yes, i am saying the plot is terrible. hero gets trapped in the metaverse and has to save his friends the end. part of my issue with the collectathon in frontiers is that there are way too many collectibles. in Odyssey, its purple coins and power moons. here its rings, xp, gears, little stupid stone children, wrenches and hearts. this is leaving out the fact that the entire world looks like it was thrown together after sega realized they couldnt make a world with only two monuments, and it still manages to be empty.
