This is some of the best culmination of speed, objective, level/character design and overall replay ability I’ve seen in a 3D sonic fan game. Hope they keep going with this one. :,)

The way momentum is handled in this game is godly. The enemy design and concept of them catching up with the player is also very well thought out.

Love this game so much, in the challenges the final race with Eggman in Hidden Base is a tad unfair due to the final part but once I beat him it felt so satisfying. The game itself reminds me of the Sonic CD opening, all that crazy shit Sonic could do you can through mastery of the mechanics. Easy to pick up but a high skill ceiling a core philosophy all great Sonic games have at their heart.
@JTNETWORK4 жыл бұрын
I agree. Once you learn how to use the momentum to your advantage it feels so satisfying. There’s also so many ‘endless possibilities’ in the stages. I feel as if I haven’t seen everything there is to offer and I keep going back to try and get that perfect run. Thanks for the comment ⭐️

For anyone saying that you can skip over most of the level design: 1: This isn’t as easy as you’d think it is, in fact, it’s actually quite difficult. 2: This is just common design in Sonic games, look at Emerald Coast in Sonic Adventure for example, in the first section, you can skip over a road by spindashing behind the bridge and jumping, thus letting you land right before the loop. 3: The developer designed the levels with this in mind.
@iccirus41913 жыл бұрын
Actually it’s very easy. And no, a small 3 second skip is far different than entire chunks of the level. Poorly designed things shouldn’t have the game be adjusted around it. If you can leap off a ramp and gain ridiculous height without even rolling for like 2 seconds that’s a problem.
@MarkerMurker3 жыл бұрын
@@iccirus4191 The levels are so big that leaping over large sections of them isn't realistic in general gameplay. In other words, a big leap won't equate to much being skipped
@iccirus41913 жыл бұрын
@@MarkerMurker Actually no thats very wrong. You can extend your jumps very far and even if you screw up just jump at the next slope. Also sunset boulevard and hidden base exist. The second part of ocean paradise as a whole is very broken.
@MarkerMurker3 жыл бұрын
@@iccirus4191 I'm not sure I follow. Everything is widespread enough to accommodate this mobility. Would you prefer a game that's less free-flowing in order to punish people for missing something? Is it not good design to be able to access anywhere in the level by playing with the physics?

Level design needs work but the concepts and gameplay look phenomenal. Boost gameplay has run its course and hasn't evolved much in the 10 plus years it's been around. I love that this looks like a mixture of the boost formula and the Adventure gameplay. Sonic's speed is natural and not just a cheap boost button making speed a reward to endless flawless motion. Sonic doesn't look stiff either or rely on strafing to keep control of his speed, he steers very naturally and has complete control in mid-air. This is the kind of potential I saw in Lost World when it strayed from the boost formula and the more open levels certainly give you a greater sense of freedom than the linear tracks and abundance of 2D sections seen in the boost games. Almost like a skating playground which I think compliments Sonic well. Sonic needs a new evolution badly and this is honestly the best I've seen that remedies everything wrong with modern Sonic games. It's just a shame Sega no longer views Sonic as a triple A franchise.

A perfect culmination of speed, platforming and exploration. The level design is long and winding with slopes, ramps and alternate paths to account for sonic's speed. Speed is gained through gaining momentum in a natural way without automation (speed boosters) and you're free to go anywhere you wish because the levels are open enough to do so. All these things give a sense of agency to the player and the moveset is accessible to both pros and new players. Truly amazing. Sonic's animations are so bouncy and squishy and his running looks so natural, even when moving at top speed. This game has great potential.

The played the stages a few times before recording to find an optimal path but then when it came down to it, I just started finding different ways to get through the stages. Literally such an expansive fan game, I definitely haven’t found the best way to complete the stages yet.
