I could totally see them get transported at the end of the movie to Sonic's world of Mobius for the epic end battle and that's where Jim Carrey becomes Dr. Robotnik from the games and Sonic changes his look from the real world nightmare that he has becomes into classic cartoon Sonic for only the end of the movie's finale and it all leads up to a hint of a sequel / series that takes place in Sonic's world with Robotnik trying to take it over and destroy Sonic. Probably introduce Tails and Knuckles in the sequel too if this movie does well enough.

The director said that SEGA really hated the way Sonic looked in the film, but the director "convinced" SEGA that Sonic had to look that way because his "classic" design wouldn't work in the "real world". Sonic isn't a quicksilver, If that was the case all the games would be a breeze. He's just fast, not faster than missiles, we see that a bunch in sonic games, for example in Sonic Mania there is a boss battle with a helicopter with sonic running Max speed and the missiles are still moving faster.

What's next, a shitty live action version of The Nightmare Before Christmas? Another live action Peter Pan movie? A live action Digimon movie? But you're right, dude. We SHOULD give Jim Carrey some love. He hasn't seen that since the Dumb And Dumber sequel in 2014, and Kick Ass 2, where he got killed off, and was barely recognizable. But, he's an amazing actor, except for Batman Forever, but no one was good in that movie, and his portrayal of The Riddler was more akin to The Joker, if The Joker stole The Riddler's clothes and made them look even dumber. And didn't use his trademark guns or crowbar for some reason. Jim Carrey does deserve better. He might be crazy enough to pull off the mad genius side of Dr. Eggman though. Bamith Yeah I know. It's stupid, but so is the logic behind destroying half the moon as a demonstration, with 6 chaos emeralds. Does it matter if we only see half of the moon or not? It was a dumb idea in the first place. He doesn't even do anything else after that. In Sonic Adventure 2, the worst things Eggman ends up doing are launching sonic off into space inside a capsule and blowing up half the moon. After that, he teams up with the others, and they all do one final level to stop the space colony ark from crashing into the earth, and stopping the biolizard, and it's final form, and shadow "dying". He's not actually dead, or a clone, or an alien, or a robot, he survived falling from space, and got tricked by Eggman into thinking he was actually a robot. It's dumb, for even this series. How do they make things this stupid? It's like a bad parody at this point. Then, they made sonic forces, where they make a story about the future, where you DON'T even play as sonic, but as a created character. And, every one thinks sonic is dead, but he's not. It sounds like they want to be serious this time. I think they might kill sonic if they don't stop making these awful decisions and awful games. The last good game he's been in was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and that's NOT a Sonic game. It's a crossover game. But, at least sonic in Smash Bros. helps him a bit.

As a long time Sonic fan, this movie literally hurts, thanks for the well said words Joe. From what I heard, years ago Sega signed a contract with Sony Pictures to have the movie made by them. Then the contract with SEGA expired or something and Sony gave the licences to Paramount Pictures. Now SEGA has no say in the movie. So far SEGA said they disagree with the design of Sonic. Such a shame. But I'm excited at the same time LOL.

Apparently sonic's creators/sonic team told paramount that they were doing it wrong and tried to get them to be more faithful but paramount wouldn't listen and just did whatever they wanted.
