Honestly after all the prototypes we've had for Sonic 2 and 3, I'm happy to finally see something good come out for Sonic 1. Notes from what I've remarked: - Sega logo uses the standard most Genesis game uses, they probably had more storage space to work with, which probably lead them to make those weird orb planets in Marble Zone and that cave-like background you see in Labyrinth Zone - Green Hill is mostly the same as ever but those weird chain balls keep spawning which is hilarious - Marble Zone seems even more tedious than usual with those dragged down platforms that break all the pace but I do actually appreciate some of the secrets they put in like the one at 8:30 and wish they kept it in the final release - Sparkling Zone (a.k.a Spring Yard) seems even more bright light city neon than ever before also those "Goodbye" signs kinda reminded me of that "Welcome to Green Hill Zone" in one of the beta of the game - Star Light Zone is definitely worse than the final, it seems much scattered out and out of whack compare to the smoothness of one we know now - Labyrinth's background almost seems like something out a Game Gear zone - Clock ork work (lmao or Scrap Brain) is very unfinished but it seems that the actual structure of the level that is in the released version is still very much present Very cool, Razor & Zenon, very cool

I'm sure someone that knows more about Sonic 1 has made a more comprehensive list but here are some things I noticed. Keep in mind I'm more of a 2 & 3k guy, so there's likely some stuff I missed/got wrong. - Different drum sound - Old Sega intro (No voice clip) - Rolling sphere from Debug mode in Green Hill act 1 - Old victory jump animation replaces jump after passing sign post - Labyrinth/Starlight/Scrap Brain lack water/objects, clearly unfinished - Level order is similar but different, many levels only via level select. - Extra life at 50 rings, not 100 - No special stage ring? (I'm not 100% sure on the criteria for spawning them, so I may be wrong) - Different zone names (Sparkling, Clockwork) - Strange visual glitches during stage transitions - It may be me, but it seems like the rolling sound didn't fade out correctly sometimes? Maybe just a sonic 1 thing. Makes my ears bleed either way. - Marble has some strange differences, including a platform pretty similar to the barrel from Sonic 3. (If they knew it was bad enough to remove back then, why is it in Sonic 3?) The eyeball UFO things in marble garden zone make the level much more welcoming. It's almost as if these ruins are from another reality and sonic was intruding upon them.

The prototype version looks amazing and outstanding. Happy 30th anniversary Sonic the Hedgehog and Happy Birthday you've Been part of my childhood for a very long time helping me going through the good and bad times because I have learning difficulties and it's so annoying and stressful but your video games TV shows music and movies that's what makes me happy all the time you're my favourite video game character of all time and been your biggest fan since 1994 or 1995 the first sonic game I ever played was Sonic the Hedgehog 2 because collecting all the Chaos Emeralds and turning into super Sonic for the first time is amazing and outstanding and to have a little buddy and sidekick on his side tails is really cool my favourite 2D Sonic game of all time is Sonic Mania and my favorite 3D Sonic game of all time is Sonic Adventure and I'm very lucky to be born the same year as sonic in 1991 I've been a big sonic fan since I was 3 or 4 years old and I've got a tattoo of Sonic that I got on my birthday back in 2016 and that makes me a true Sonic fan I've got lots of Sonic merchandise and can't wait to see the new Sonic movie next year and I'll be wearing my special Sonic the Hedgehog trainers at the cinema thank you Sonic you've mean a lot to me and you're like a brother to me and I love you so much thank you SEGA and thank you to the man himself Mr Naka the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog you're the coolest Sonic creator in the world from your biggest fan of all time The True Mario & Sonic Fan Boy. 💙 😁 💙
