Thank you for this video. I struggled for 2 days trying to get this working again. Updated the firmware on the camera, deleted the app on the phone and reinstalled, but the update app from the camera menu sorted it out. Huge thumbs up and thanks for the video.

This app works great for my a5100, which is my gimbal cam. The touch focus doesn't work in video mode (it does work in photo mode) but since the autofocus great, its not a big deal. This is such a handy app. It will work with all my Sony Alphas and my HX90V. Nice review ..thanks

I think this function is incredibly useful when you travel alone and take a selfie . If you use Sony smartphone (or any phone with NFC), it will be more convenience. Just place it then connected. Cool !

If you have limited control of your camera's functions with the app (like can only take photos no shutter speed, aperture, ext), or there isn't even a QR code to scan, the app is outdated (even if the icon looks correct). Got an a6000 from a friend, connected, and was pretty mad as I had the same functionality as my a77 Mk II, which I knew couldn't be right, as really only the a77 and a99 suffered this limited functionality in said app.

İt may be a good time now to update this video.Because PMCA app is now Imaging Edge.Also i updated my cam to the latest firmware but the remote app in the camera is still old.And if i connect my camera to my phone i cant see those settings (iso-f-s) on the phone app.For this i need to open an account on the PMCA site but it seems offline.Because of this and bc of my camera is newly purchased i cant sign up for a new account too.These are the questions i think enough good for an updated version of this video.Thanks.

And one more info that I have been searching for for the past 2 hours and was hoping to get out of this video is that through the remote control mode on your a6000 you actually CANNOT shoot videos. Unbelievable but true. I have been playing with my gimbal and wanted to shoot over my phone when I ran into a Stop sign. I have googled it through and through, it is so hard to find info on what this camera cannot do :D Still, thank you for the video, love all your a6000 series!

Nice video, I have the remote working on a Sony Camcorder, but on my A6300, when I enable the app and enable the wireless connection on my phone, the A6300 goes into a loop, and will not open up the image or display the image, the message is "connecting" but never completes the iphone connection. As I mentioned, this remote method works on my Sony PXW-X70 camcorder, but for some reason, it appears that the Sony is not connecting via it's wireless connection. I welcome any recommendations.

Ok bro, I solved it. While the camera is connecting, and the phone wifi is connected, go to the imaging edge app, and tap Start. The camera will connect successfully.

The PlayMemories app is now Imaging Edge. And on Imaging Edge I can't change any options, I can only take the photo... Any advice on how to change that. My main preoccupation is the focus!

Update the app on the camera itself from the app menus. I had this problem and the update slowed me to change manual settings on the phone app.

@@kbrown6543 connect the camera to your WiFi, create a Sony account if you don't have one. Then go to application list/play app/all . You'll found an icon "update"

Update the smart controller app on the camera. Make an account online at Sony Play memories. At the application list go to Play Memory Camera Apps Under all apps find Smart Remote Control and press update When it ask for you to log in use your Play Memories account

As Pedro said, it does not seem to work for video or a few other modes on my Sony a6000. People were saying it was a hardware issue of the a6000 over later models. However, I read that some hackers used an app to talk to the camera and changed the camera's internal name from a6000 to something else (like a6001). That evidently overrode the block, and allowed remote video using the Imaging Edge app. I wouldn't know how to start to do that.
