Sony has finally updated their best selling full frame camera, the A7 III with the A7 IV. Nearly everything's been improved, but were they holding back? Sony A7 IV bhpho.to/3KUie0s

I'm a wedding photographer and I recently switched to Sony and bought the A7 iv and let me tell you, it is the best camera that I've ever owned. Fast and accurate autofocus system, excellent in low light, beautiful skin tones and more. I upgraded from the Nikon D750 and couldn't be anymore happier.

Good catch-up review! In fact not having all the specs regurgitated back to us in the video - unlike on most other channels - is a good thing and it makes what you have to say more engaging to listen to (and yeah I get it, when the products hit the market, the specs is all we care about - i know). I've also noticed that in the pursuit of "frames per second" manufactures no longer disclose the bit-depth rates of RAW files. It was a big deal when Canon EOS 40D did 14bit RAWs as non-pro grade body back then, but now we have top of the range cameras slipping us in 12-bit RAWs at 30 frames per second not telling us they are not the same as 14-bit RAWs when shooting in single frame mode - sneaky sneaky. As far as the prices go, where I am, the retail costs for the cameras that were already on the market went up anyway - so R6 would set me back 300 credits more now than at its launch - therefore paying "more" for the A7IV is not a biggie IMO. If anything I vividly remember youtubers going crazy over how "underpriced" A7III was at its debut - so I think we were spoiled by that ;) Good to see you back.

9:09 is the most common-sense thing I've seen from a camera reviewer in like 2-3 years. Just make customization easy - don't make me fight through your menu system to program a button. I'm torn between upgrading my a6600 or waiting for the next-gen. The low-light capabilities of the a6600 just aren't hitting it for me as I get into wildlife photo. Yet I think I'm newbie enough to still learn things with my current camera and push it to it's limits. I think best bet is to wait for the A9 III or the Alpha 2 in a few years.

The area were you see the difference in price is the amount of data that you can have/pull out of a raw file. The example is shown in this video. The level of data in the highlights is impressive against older camera's like the Canon EOS R.

hi, thanks for sharing, got one question, how would u choose between sanyang 12f2 lens in apsc mode and sanyang 18mm in FF mode if u can only choose one of them? they theoretically would have some pov, but really curious about the distortion comparison and autofocus performance etc.
@HyunRalphJeong2 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the 18mm lens, but personally, 99% of the time, I'd get the full frame lens. That way, you have the option to shoot full frame or apsc. The image quality should be pretty similar between the two.

Hi, i am not sure if you have any content on the camera body vs the lens. Which one a beginner should focus more spending their money on and does it make any difference having a cheaper body with expensive lens or vice versa? Thanks
@HyunRalphJeong2 жыл бұрын
You don't necessarily need "expensive" bodies or lenses, but you just need the right ones for you. There's not much difference in image quality between cheap and expensive camera bodies because their sensor technologies are very similar. But more expensive bodies may have better autofocus and weather sealing, etc. With lenses, most beginners only need a couple of decent affordable primes with 1.8 or 2.0 aperture. Most lenses are sharp nowadays and you don't need to spend 5-10 times more for 1.4 or 1.2 lenses.

This is what I don't understand about the flip up screen being worse because it's blocked by a mic argument. You can mount a mic elsewhere, but if it's blocked by the only input point, surely that's worse. How do shoot low angle video or from the hip if you are using the inputs? It's just objectively worse than the flip up. I've seen side mounted mics, tripod heads with cold shoes, cages etc. - but there's no way around this without Sony's proprietary mic, or external audio. /rant ✌️
@adzamree68702 жыл бұрын
what? i have the a7iv..the mic input is not blocked
@MrPhilbautista2 жыл бұрын
@@adzamree6870 He means the view of the screen is blocked by the mic cord (if one is plugged in), or any cord for that matter, when you're working from the front of the camera. A 90* angle plug usually solves that problem but it's still a nuisance having to find one, if possible.

I do not think you gave enough importance to the fact the a7iv shoots 10 bit 4:2:2 . I have owned both and the difference is pretty obvious; and photo wise the colour science / reproduction is much better wich means the time spend in post is significantly lower.
