Hey y’all, worked super hard on this! Hope you guys enjoy it and find it helpful! It’s 52min but I did my best to include visual examples so it’s easier to understand what each feature does! It took me so long to make this because I didn’t want skimp on it. I put a lot of thought into it to make sure it makes sense from a Photo/Video Hybrid perspective. I just want to point out that I’ve watched this video 5 times now. As a camera noob, I was lost but I managed to learn as I went on. Around a little less than halfway you mentioned to switch to video mode but you never said to switch back to camera mode. Just thought I would help out someone else who was also confused. I ended up staying in video mode the rest of the video and had to go back and redo the camera mode after I noticed. Great video but hard for a newbie to understand.

It was incredibly helpful! My camera's battery was at 92% when I started watching, and after following along in my settings menu, it dropped down to 15% by the time I reached the end!

Super easy to follow. Only comment is we switched to video to at 9:31. Then at 26:25 you said switch to video again. Were the settings before 26:25 not video :P? I don't think we switched back to photo mode. Definitely threw me off! Haha Edit: In hindsight, I was definitely seeing some setting discrepencies and didn't know why, now I know. Love the Custom key setups. Just changed maybe 1 or 2 for me, but they all 100% make sense.

Yes, I stayed with you to the end and you are right: It was a BEAST! I'm brain-fogged. It took me 4 days with my new a7IV in front of me-never used Sony before, never used mirrorless before, never shot quality video before. In addition, I had to run your video at 0.75 speed and with Closed Caption turned ON. So I may be your worst case viewer. But I made it and now I will rest. Must rest. Settings saved on the sd card gets deleted when doing format... most people format everytime they take pictures to avoid corruption... so i would need to save the settings file on a computer, right?

Thanks Jason! Amazing video; I do have one question. I made it all the way through perfectly, then when I finally got to the VEEEEERRRRRYYY last setting (S & Q Memory setting) I set up for slow motion (setting 1), and now realize that I cannot select ISO Auto any more... but only in Video or S & Q modes!! Photo mode still selects either ISO auto or manually just fine, the normal way, but the only way I can shoot video/S & Q with auto ISO any more is to go Menu-- Exposure/Color-- Exposure--Auto/Manual Swt. Set.-- ISO Auto/Manual Set to Auto... but then I can't select ISO manually unless I reverse the whole process!!! Super frustrating... especially when I can see you're just changing ISO to Auto ISO the usual way (hit Rear2 Right button [ISO], change). Any clue what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks!!

I might have missed it, but honestly one of the settings I use a lot and is really powerful is the auto min shutter. I find it better than manual in the sense that you can specify you min shutter speed, but the camera can take it higher if need be. This means that you have room if the scene gets brighter whereas with manual and auto iso, it can only go up in iso and can't correct for over exposure.
