Sony RX0 Review: MORE than an Action Cam

I guess put it on a Drone! Lol. But really it seems that its not in the consumer realm or for anything else apart from short shots in cars. I dont see the point of it. WHY make a NON sports camera that is compact yet has no customer base. TV dont need them they use gopro etc. No market for this at all. Yet another SONY FAIL. SONY IF YOUR LISTENING? MAKE A CAMERA WITH A NAME. NOT NUMBERS! like Challenge, SONY-amaze,SONY- SHARP- SONY- ACTION. keep it simple with names and make something amazing... Yea SONY - AMAZING CAM. Start with that lols

Good video but you made no mention of the FDR-X3000. Which one is better for a walking video? I like to shoot while I'm walking down the strand at the beach or along Hollywood Bl.

Super helpful and honest review so far!! Actually I was considering this for my vlogging gear vs the rx100 V, definetely for vlogging purposes your best combo would be an rx100 V and a Gopro 6 for action shots, while the rx0 could be used for both it seems like it’s not the right version to buy yet, I would wait for it to have the same autofocus system as the rx100 V and then it would be an ideal device for vlogging even better if they add an optical or digital stabilization ! Absolutely! Wait for our next video coming out today! We go over both the GoPro and RX0 and the comparison between the two. Now that I have tested them out...I really do love the RX0 more than I did when I first used it. For vlogs though, I still think the RX100 is better.....even though the RX0 has the much desired mic input!

Good 'intro' to the RX0. What more do I want? To understand a little more about the remote operation of this camera.The Sony 'Playmemories' app has been updated with RX0 support, however they have yet to update the 'Sony Remote API' to cover it. This is one area where I think the camera will shine.... being able to script up the operations you want (as you can with other supported cameras). Official support is for 5 cameras (1 connected to phone, 4 slaved from the 1st camera) or 15 sync'ed via the 'remote flash'. With the use of scripting this can surely be extended....

@@lukebriz6253 I am. I've got an a99ii, an FS5ii, an a7iii, 3 RX0s and a RX0ii. Not having to mess about with "different brands idea of color" to use them all on a single shoot is nice. If you put it in a cage (helps with heat) and use an external recorder you run it all night in 4k as a great establishing shot. I have a musician friend I shoot all the time and these are great "wide shot - back of the room - include the crowd" cameras. Also - lots of folks bought these thinking they were an action cam - so there are decent deals on barely used ones on eBay. Best of luck sir.

@@LostandFoundTravel Yeah thanks for the reply. Looking to use it for weddings to get those wide back up shots I can cut to from the a7iii which would go well with the colour science. Would you say there's much difference between the Rx0 and the mk2? I'm trying to justify the price on them here in Australia ahah the Rx0 goes for about $700 and the Mk2 still goes for $1.2k lol

@@lukebriz6253mk2 will do 4k without an external - but overheating is a concern as you know with Sony so an external makes sense for you wedding master shot anyway - to keep heat down. It's not that huge apart from that. I'd get the mk1 and use the extra coin toward a Ninja monitor/recorder.

Kinotika thanks a lot. 120fps is more than enough for me. Even 60fps should do fine. This looks like an awesome b cam to the a7iii for "daredevil" situations. What about battery life and 🤯 overheating? Much of the complaints I heard was about overheating, was it fixed? Does it overheat underwater?
