From the age of 14 years old until I graduated college I paid my way through college no student loans until I got scholarships (at the end) I worked while they chased boys and partied (I partied too but not as much as them) And I always tried to grow every year as a person (reading listening to elders ) It’s about sacrifice and tunnel vision on your goals What I hate most is... it usually comes from other women Instead of say you’re an inspiration to me, girl thanks. It’s hate. That’s why I cut off all friendships in my early 20s and now I have driven female friends (I met on the road or church or seminars). We motivate each other and no drama I think bcuz I have a huge predominately female family ( all successful) and I grew up in the beauty industry... I cheer and try to pull up the next women. But it’s really hard for women to do that for each other And it makes me So sad So, Sophie I love your videos and I think you are a great influence I don’t even live in UK (🇺🇸) but I think your ambition can radiate around the world Please continue to do what you do and much love and positive vibes going to you and your family Thanks for sharing

@@El-Wifer i know a lot of women aren't attracted to men who make less than them. It's just human nature, so i don't think of it as necessarily as bad. K. Lyn Richele I guess I just don’t buy into the idea that it is human nature. I never had it in my head that my husband was supposed to support me financially, so I was attracted to who he is as a person, rather than his wallet. That sounds harsher then it does in my brain 😀. I had conflicting messages growing up. My Mom said it is just as easy to love a man who was rich as it to love a man who is poor, so you might as well love a rich man. My father raised me to be independent and never have to rely on a man for money. My husband is massively supportive in every way that I need. He is working his own business and making it grow. He works harder than I do. If he was sitting around the house, I would be unhappy because he would not be contributing. But he contributes in every way. I don’t know, perhaps I am odd, but it works for me. I love and respect my husband for who he is. I hope that helps.

People are heinous sometimes especially when they can hide behind the internet! It's appalling what people are willing to say hiding behind a cloak of anonymity.

I just watched your handbag video and assumed you are around 23. Then I incorrectly assumed because of your amazing handbag collection, that you just must be a rich kid who makes videos about their stuff. I am glad that you put up this video, because it is inspiring. Obviously, you worked hard in college, worked hard in your job, then worked hard to start your own business... for years; and your type of success is real, inspiring, and attainable. I loved that you said to stay in school, i'm currently 23 feeling a little discouraged at times because I am soooo close to finishing yet I feel so far. But your video inspired me to work hard, and reminded me that the type of success I want in my life is reachable as well because I dont want to have debt/kids either. Like you said, you did not have to be as honest as you are, so I want to thank you for it. What you said was refreshing, again i am inspired, and i hope nothing I said offended you. I apologize for misjudging you initially and this is a reminder that it is none of my business how others make their money.

You are such an inspiration. I got a master degree in Finance then I decided to move to Europe due to some personal issues. I started another Master from scratch, at the Uni we only study extremely theoretical economic topics I feel like I am wasting my life there and when I see all of my friends already in management positions, I feel like such a loser. Right now I want to build a career in digital marketing but even the internships are requiring experience in the field, so I decided to volunteer as a digital marketer in an organisation and and I am financing my studies working in a company that's 3 hours far from my city. I am also creating my own website to practice the digital marketing related topics thay I am learning online. I hope that life is going to be nice to me. Greetings from Germany!

You are doing great! Don't feel bad about these changes and what seems to be set backs. I know exactly how you feel. I've been there, not once... also felt like a loser in comparison. You have to remember two things: stop comparing and to each its own. Your life is yours, so you can't live it like somebody else. I know people who got where they wanted early and are miserable at their jobs overall and they talk about, but still stick with it. Not judging, just making a point, this is their choice that is good for them, in a different way. If you made a choice to move, that means you knew you just wouldn't be able to go with another choice and that decision is good for you.

This is the first time I am watching your channel. I normally opt to not watch people who speak about all the luxury items they can afford. I like that you are brave enough to be honest and give viewers a window into your financial struggles and achievements. It is your honesty that made me subscribe.

Sophie I rarely comment but you’re an inspiration for my partner and I. We’re also based in Surrey and both young professionals, and while we’re blessed to have been educated this far, you absolutely showcase what hard work results in, and in such a humble yet informative way. Keep smashing 2019!

This video perfectly embodies why I follow you. It is so inspiring to not only see the "luxury items" but also how you got there and your dedication and passion to hard work and paying off debt. In a world full of social media influencers who get paid to be pretty and stylish, it is so refreshing to have a strong, empowered woman enjoy the finer things in life AND give merit to school and hard work and good financial habits. Thank you for being a great role model :)

You are the only youtuber that talks about luxury things that I watch and doesn't make me feel crappy about myself. You are very humble and smart. I am a 26 year old girl who works at a bank and I absolutely hate it. I started learning german and as soon as I am able to I will quit my job and move to germany to study marketing. I have always loved it but in my country there are very little opportunities to do what you love. So I am taking that risk and I will change my life because there is no chance I will be stuck here forever ! thank you for being inspirational

You posted this video exactly when I needed it. I’m graduating this summer but I’ve worked in one of ‘those’ jobs throughout my entire degree simply because money is such a necessity. I hated feeling like I was sidelining my degree because of the stress of needing to earn for the here and now. This year I decided I had to take the hit and I’ve massively reduced my time at my job in order to prioritise my degree. If I could go back in time I’d tell me younger self that my degree will be my best tool in the long run. Thank you for posting this video, it’s such a reassurance hearing that my goals are tangible

I fully understand. Even though people *know* that I am a medical doctor with a long, successful career and I have degrees in Engineering and Finance in addition to medicine and I used to be a military officer - *men* are constantly insisting that my wealth comes from being married a couple of times. They refuse to accept that I was financially successful before marrying anyone.

I would be really interested to hear how you approached asking for pay rises. I have always felt very uncomfortable about the idea of asking for me (which I know plays into every company's hands, terrified staff not daring to ask for more) so would be very grateful for any tips. I work in the media industry and you are always made to feel as if you should be grateful for the scrap you have because there are a 100 people desperate to take your place. I have always felt confident in the initial job interview to pitch for the top end of the wage bracket but after that I become a bit meek.

I believe in older videos Sophie already talked about it! I remember her talking about it! It was along the lines of: write every achievement down, remember what you do daily and how you benefit the company (eg financially) and when you feel like you’ve done enough for a raise talk to your supervisor and remind them of all the achievements you’ve had in their company.

I’m not even that interested in buying luxury goods but I always appreciate your input about them. I feel like you are genuinely passionate about fashion and I know that if I ever do decide to buy a designer handbag, you’ve educated me so much about what is and isn’t worth the money that I know I’ll make a good choice. And you aren’t telling people to go into debt or not to live within their means. A lot of other KZbinrs kind of tacitly endorse irresponsible spending and you never do.

Sophie you are a CLASS ACT! 👏🏾 the way you handle adversity with such grace and poise is admirable. I’ll admit while I’ve never been bold enough to pry into anyone’s financial business, I would also wonder how people could afford such a life of luxury, not because I was being nosy but mainly to see if it were something I’d be interested in getting in on! Lol It’s perfectly achievable to make a great living and live a lifestyle that’s comfortable and enjoyable when you play your cards right. I feel like part of people’s curiosity stems from that fact that much of our society isn’t very well educated in maintaining good financial health or acquiring abundance. We’re essentially taught go to school ~~> get a job ~~> save, save, save until the day you die. It’s not at all that simple, and that ideal life path often puts people in more trouble and confusion with finances. It’s a vicious cycle; adhere to the status quo because it’s all you’ve been exposed to, and then question, even as far as resent those who take a different route. I think if we teach ourselves financial wellness, maintenance and responsibility, more could have enough to not only get by, but also have the option to treat themselves and loved ones to little luxuries like you show on your channel every now and then, at least, it won’t feel so out of reach to so many people.

Sophie, this was incredibly inspiring. I just started my first "real job" after spending years after graduating university in a rut. I hopped around several unsatisfying, temporary positions to make ends meet and thought that I was never going to claw my way out. Now I work in marketing at a very nice place with very nice people and have finally realized that I have ambitions and goals to work toward that will result in my long term happiness (not just survival lol). I love hearing success stories like yours. Awesome and empowering.
