Looking up how to paint the black plague box I got and seeing all these videos out there and then seeing yours is what got me back in to the hobby again. Thank you for this video on so many levels (Skaven for life, my first tattoo I ever got has Skaven runes in it.) The combination of skin tone with the color-choice on the boils made me think of so many applications (A Nurgle army in those colors especially the pox walkers would be amazing.) SORASTRO!!! (I do hope you see this and toss me a response) I have become interested in painting my Black Plague minis (and Wulfsburg) largely thanks to your videos here. Thing is, I don't have the abominarat....you ever going to make a guide on painting the Wulfsburg minis? That means of course the 4 added survivors, the WOLFZ...and the Abomina-wolf (?)...I don't want to resort to the other guide(s) I've found, as if I take their suggestions, I'd mainly be using Army Painter paints, while using mainly Citadel with YOUR guides. Would rather not have to get even more scattered with my paint buying.
@Sorastro6 жыл бұрын
Hi Nixie! I'd love to paint some of the Wulfsburg stuff! My schedule is just rammed at the moment - especially with the new LOTR game coming out soon from FFG - so I'm not sure when I'll get to them. For boils rather than going for the white & yellow highlight you can add a very light glaze of white over the uppermost parts as that gives the horrible translucent stretched shin appearance if real boils, which also have a very pale core visible. Hello! Awesome video as always. Something is not clear to me: After the prime you wait 24/h? After the wash how much time do you wait? Still 24h? And after the Matt spray to eliminate the wash reflections? Again 24 hours? Thanks very much
@Sorastro4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle! Technically you're supposed to let the prime fully cure over 24 hours (although I don't always do that!), but the rest of the stuff (wash, varnish etc) you don't have to wait long for (you can even blast the mini with a fan or a hairdryer to dry it really fast if you like!) :)

I'm really new to the painting hobby, so forgive me if I'm wrong. It looks like he's blending the paints, while the paints are still wet? It looks way more effective than painting, letting it dry, and then trying to blend the colors.

How did you thin the paints for the bases? I know you're using a wet pallette but I'm amazed they stayed wet for the wet blending - I find some paints dry relatively quickly. Rakarth flesh (which you use) is one that seems to dry for me even on a wet pallette. Do you use a retarder or is it just water?
@Sorastro6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ricardo! I think on this occasion I just used water, but sometimes if I'm planning a longer session I may well mix in a little retarder to keep the paint wet for longer :)
@RobCrawford236 жыл бұрын
There are some GW paints that folks have found to be highly variable Ushabri Bone is one paint that I gave up buying as it was always gritty and a bit dried out. I have heard the same thing said about Rakarth Flesh though it's never given me issues. Some folks use the airbrush versions instead (they brush on just fine) as they seem to have a little retarder in them, or as previously mentioned just add some retarder yourself

I LOVE your videos but i'd prefer if you didn't show the completed version of the model in the beginning of the video. It ruins the excitement of seeing the process step by step until the final reveal at the end. The thumbnail is fine since you can barely make out any detail with such a small image. I also don't think you need to lay out the step by step process before you start. Your pacing is already so diligent and precise, I find it really easy to follow even without it. This is a subjective opinion of course. I'd be curious what other people think about this. And before anyone says it, I know I can just skip ahead, I already do; but since the completed model is the first frame, I can't always skip fast enough for it not to be spoiled for me.

Hi Jamie! Thanks for the kind comment and well-meant criticism! I’d also be interested in what other people think, but I personally feel it’s quite important to show the completed model at the start to establish what it is we’re aiming for (and I guess also to entice people to watch to find out how to do it!). I also like to think the steps overview at the start is useful for newer painters, but like I say, I’m certainly open to hearing other views.. 😀

Sorastro's Painting I see the appeal of his suggestions, but I really like the format as is. The one suggestion I would make is to have you compile snippets of your existing videos in to 15 minute segments on specific techniques, like zenithal shading, flesh tones, metals, washing, dry brushing and so on. I love watching all your videos, but I’d like to go back and see primers on techniques I’m about to try out

Sorastro's Painting Personally, I want to see the completed model at the start, because I am not watching 20-30m video if the end result isn't something I'm interested in. In videos that don't have it, I'll jump to the end to see the completed model first then decide. Not a huge deal either way.

I agree with the OP and have thought this many times while watching your videos. I’ve taken to just closing my eyes until the beginning part is over lol

@@drelt I do the same thing :) Jump right to the end first, then I watch the video
