Fun fact: The Young Macguffin noone can understand is actually speaking Doric, a Scottish Dialect. For example, when they start arguing during the introductions, he said "If he was a wee bit closer I could lob a caber at him, you know?" At dinner: "Since you're sayin it, and I wasnt there to see it for myself, Ill go ahead and take your word for it" And after her big speech: "Its just not fair making us fight for the hand of a girl who doesnt want any part of it" (Rough translation, overall similar enough though that you can understand it if you know what youre hearing for)

Will-o'-the-whisps are a common scottish folk lore. I remeber my father telling me stories about them when I was younger. (I'm half Scottish, He's full Scottish) The will-o'-the-wisp is a flame-like phosphorescence caused by gases from decaying plants in marshy areas. In olden days, it was personified as "Will with the wisp," a sprite who carried a fleeting "wisp" of light. Foolish travelers were said to try to follow the light and were then led astray into the marsh. *Cue the 'The More You Know" music*

@Gilgamasch perhaps depending on the theory. There was a popular one saying Boo time traveled and became the witch. However, is that's true then we need evidence of time travel, or something similar to that in Monster's Inc. In fact, if we take the character the Abominable Snowman, he gives us a bit of info on the matter. In Monster's University he is seen as in charge of the mailroom and Mike calls him by name. Later in Inc, when they are banished, they meet again but this time Mike doesn't seem to remember him. This can obviously be the fact it has been a long time that Mike doesn't know him, but I have a feeling your old boss at your last resort workplace would be memorable. This could be a hint to time traveling, also the fact that a Snowman is working in such a room temperature environment. The last thing to point out is the Pizza Planet truck. This is another wood carvings from the future, and at this point either the witch is a time traveler or she can just tell the future. Showing how medieval looking dn far back Scotland is in Brave, I feel it would be unlikely to randomly guess what a car is. Therefore, it could be possible she is a time traveler, but why? There is no motive and we know almost nothing about Boo if she were to do this. Maybe it isn't Boo? We do see in other Pixar films like Turning Red, Luca and Toy Story, that Paranormal things can happen in the normal human world, so this could be the case that perhaps it was a girl who got scared of Sully and somehow developed time travel and wanted to show glimpses of the future. She might have went too far back in time so now she is stuck. While waiting she turns Mordu into a bear and causes chaos for fun and is waiting for her time to possibly either allow certain doors to never exist, or hunt down Sully when it's time. Why do I say the bit about the doors? She is a wood carver and a witch, and it seems weird to me that despite there being doors in this era, she doesn't have any in her hut. Perhaps only big doors and ones that lead to rooms with weapons or windows in case of a monster attack? Quite possible. My conclusion, she is an evil time traveler who has somehow mastered witchcraft.

This is one of my top Disney Princess movies. Merida causes and resolves her problem on her own accord. She grows as a person and teaches her mom to grow too. I could easily compare Merida’s archery skills to that of Robin Hood as they both are masters of the bow and arrows.
