South Jutlandic or South Jutish (South Jutish: Synnejysk; Danish: Sønderjysk; German: Südjütisch or Plattdänisch) is a dialect of the Danish language. South Jutlandic is spoken in Southern Jutland (Sønderjylland; also called Schleswig or Slesvig) on both sides of the border between Denmark and Germany.
Variants of the dialect include Western and Eastern South Jutlandic (including Alsisk). The former variant in Angeln and Schwansen was known as Angel Danish.[2]
The other dialects classified as belonging to the Jutlandic or Jutish (Jysk) group of dialects are West, East, and North Jutlandic.

I'm an American who was an exchange student to Denmark 30 years ago. I lived in Lysabildskov in Southern Jutland. I learned Danish, but had such a Sønderjysk accent that when I went to Copenhagen, people could tell exactly where I lived in the country, but that I was also American. It was hilarious. 😆

For a swede like me this is making more sense than danish spoken in Copenhagen.

Really? I would have expected the opposite, honestly. Copenhageners tend to understand Swedish better than us Jutes, but maybe that is because they are exposed more to spoken Swedish.

@@AlxzAlec der var min pointe. Jyder forstår svensk dårligere end Københavnerne, men jeg ved ikke om dette skyldes at københavnerdansk er tættere på svensk eller om det er fordi de hører svensk meget oftere end os jyder.

@@wezzuh2482 Yeah, I understand almost everything in the video. It's much clearer than danish from Sjaelland I think. But maybe not every swede would agree with me. I'm from Gotland. We speak a dialect who have some danish elements in it. I believe Copenhagers understand swedes better than opposites ;)

We don't have records of Old Jutish (West Germanic), that's bad ;( But maybe it was close to Anglo-Frisian languages

This is trippy.. to me, he sounds American almost, from the South, his accent, it almost has a "twang"... Very very fascinating, I didn't know "twangish" accents existed abroad (I'm American btw), this is truly fascinating !! I do love the interesting dialect do they all sound like this generally does anyone know ? Fascinating 👍👍

I live in southern Jutland, personally it's not too common to come across anyone who speaks the language, it's barely understandable for me, but the Jutland accent is definitely common here It does actually remind me a bit of southern US accents, the "twang" is there

@@Smoerrebroed obsessed!! Thnx for replying, what language are you referring to, Danish ? I thought this was Danish, Jutland dialect.. a little confused.. also, I googled this dialect and almost nothing comes up, there's little to no record of ppl speaking this way which is curious as this is a very fascinating discovery to me, I've never heard any kind of twang anything, abroad, so this is truly fascinating, please direct me if you know any youtubes etc showing this dialect thank you so much.. awesome stuff !! @@tara_nicole7 It's technically a dialect of the danish language, But with how different it is from Rigsdansk (The standard dialect pretty much everyone uses) it's a little fair to call it it's own language, just as a close relative to Danish I'm not much of an expert, but Wikipedia has an article about it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Jutlandic I found some channels that dub over stuff with the dialect, it's pretty funny: Home Alone by Æ Sproch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKfLZ5Vrq6eAj5I Here's a good one with Tour de France by På Sønderjysk: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHTRcmOkjNR8mas Saving the best for last, here's a sketch(?) that shows a man trying to teach some guys the dialect, I think it's especially good: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJfIkGmCo9StedU

We need to hear , old jutish to we all see the whole map of jutish or jysk today, thats include the all period before war german-danish, more before bismarck period. Today south jutish is closer to anglo frisian and anglo saxon. Fast, aglutinative and rotacismist idiom
