@@stevenlornie1261 2 words, weirding module. The 'Weirding Way' was a semi-magical form of Martial arts essential to the story, not some kind of clumsy tech. True the movie needed much more time to make the story work, but David Lynch's lurid surrealistic style did not suit this kind of grand tale. Set design, "does not a good movie make". I'm not sure what I would have thought of his movie if I hadn't read the book. In comparison though only the SciFi series did a decent job with the story.
@amcalabrese14 жыл бұрын
Pat West There were parts of the movie that were good. The actors chosen for the roles were quite good (I liked sting’s over the top and psychopathic take on Fayed “I will kill him”. The sets were very good. Even the whispering thoughts we good as much of the novel is the characters thinking about events. The sets and the costumes were very good. The whole we weirding module was silly. And as pointed out the pacing was poor and some of the filler time seemed like low budget B Movie stuff. The SciFi miniseries was better written but the CGI was lacking. The costume design was weird (what’s up with all the weird hats). But they were able to deal with the weirding way better. I’m hoping the new movie corrects the shortcomings of the two previous attempts

Wasn't awkward though; much better style than having the actors say their thoughts out loud even if they are alone like in most of the modern movies. That just makes the character look crazy talking to themselves. The DL version of the Dune was great with how they portrayed the thoughts, a bit feels like the old noir movies where the main detective character narrates his thoughts throughout the film.

His version was 10x better than Villeneuve's trash.
@amuroray882 жыл бұрын
@@penknight8532 It really was. While Lynch's requires you to read the book to know what's going on, it makes for a much better visual representation of Dune as a story.

I'm amused by how varying the reactions are going to be between the people who lived through the 80's Dune: "oh god, this is funny," the people who know South Park but not the old Dune: "what are they referencing? Is this from Seinfeld or something?", ...and the people who know neither and got sent here at random: "WHAT THE HELL IS EVEN GOING ON HERE?!?!?"
