I like what you did when you still rolled the wire a few times on the main leader line. Super effective and sets you apart from all same content creators out there

Hey Heath another great tutorial. Great rig /knot to make while watching tv. I use this for live bait rigs also with a loop knot on the mono end. I store them in individual zip lock type bags for easy access on the boat. Boats been in for repairs unfortunately so good time to rig up! Keep up the great work 👍

Thanks a million for watching, great to hear from you. Sorry to hear about your boat. Hopefully, your're back out on the water soon. In the coming weeks, my boat has go for the 600 hour tune up on the engine... These are great, they take away that swivel, and its a super strong connection if done properly. Only set back is if you want to swap lures, you gotta re-rig. Choices. Thanks again for all you do for the channel, and taking out time to watch. I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

Awesome tutorial! I use this rigging for all my trolling baits... lost too many rigs due to the swivel being attacked....I guess it is all the bubbles that it creates.

Thanks a bazillion for watching and sharing. this is definitely a great approach to keeping the stealth factor along with loss prevention. Only issue is re-rigging is required for a lure swap-out. Oh well, I guess we have to pick our poison wisely. Can't thank you enough for taking out time to always be here, share your thoughts and support the channel. I sincerely wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. Thanks again for everything you do. Tight lines & take care ;)

Cool vid! Should’ve known this on my surf fishing trip, would’ve prevented having to use a swivel. I had a video idea. Maybe you can get all the different kinds of bait fish and then go over how you raise them and what species? For example squid, cigar minnows, pilchard, Bonitaa strip, etc.

Hi Alex, thanks a million for watching and for the great idea. Glad you to hear you learned a little trick with this one. Most folks don't know you can do it, much less do it correctly. Your idea is great and is sort of in line with the trend I'm going to start showcasing, live baiting. As you can see, I don't try to stray too far from a topical pattern of styles... i.e. slow pitch, planer trolling, offshore trolling, bucktail jig... So, live baiting, catching, brining, ect... will follow suit, until I've run through enough of it to get out information for everyone. Thanks a million for all you do, and your input, it means the world to me. Tight liens & take care ;)

Good vid. What if my main line is braid? I would think the wire would cut the braid so a swivel would be necessary.. Am I missing something here? Thanks!
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishingАй бұрын
First, in saltwater you should never go straight braid to hook. You need at least a 50 foot shock chord of mono or fluoro so you don't yank the hook out of the fish's mouth. Next, yes you are correct the wire would compromise the braid.

Awesome tutorial, Sir! Is there a specific name for this know? Maybe I missed it. I am definitely going to use this and show my son.

Yes it's called the albright knot
@jonathanwexler97742 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great video, really helpful! The knot reminds me of an albright except you just wrap the line one way and not back over itself. Does the knot have a name? Also, what size wire would you suggest using for wahoo?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing2 жыл бұрын
It is an Albright knot... the knot you are referencing that wraps back over itself is called an Alberto knot. Thanks for watching. Tight lines

Thanks for another video. Does this also apply to braid to wire?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes, same application will work braid to wire. Remember, though you're going to want some sort of shock absorbing line in the mix somewhere, otherwise the hook will just ripped out of the fishes mouth. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel. I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Heath, That was good information. I thought you would have made a loop on the leading end of the wire leader. The Alberto like knot with the wire and mono should be strong and more streamlined than a loop. Say "Hi" to Avi and the "Fishing Girls." It's been in the mid to high 90's here, so I've been staying indoors most days. I went to the indoor shoot range today. Have a good week and I'll talk to you on Sunday, Mickey

Hi Mickey, thanks for watching. Taking the kids back to Orlando again this weekend. This is their treat for the summer before going back to school. Plus they've been at home, and dealing with with life and unexpected changes for a year and a half now. Finally able to start adjust to some sort of new normal. This wire to line attachment is great... It's easy to wonder if the knot will slip from there being no loop on the wire, but it doesn't, this connection is as solid as anything. Pretty amazing, the physics behind knot tying and understanding what works and why. We are definitely in the dog days of summer, the sweltering heat... I really think summer is the only true season Florida has. That indoor shooting range sounds nice and cool. The kids all say "Hi Mickey". Hope all is well with you and your family. Stay cool for now. Talk to you on Sunday. Take care ;)

Hi very good vidoes, great fact. One question thou, can you do this with braid also, wire to braid?
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes you can tie this application using braid. However, you're going to want to consider the loss of shock absorbency and stealth without having any mono involved in your setup. Mono, is clear, thus providing the stealth & trickery factor needed to be device towards hooking a fish. And you need shock absorbency, provided by the stretch factor of mono, for when the fish hits, to assist in setting the hooks. Having just braid and wire provides no shock absorbency and you'll be risking just yanking the hook out of the fishes' mouth when it strikes. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your support of the channel. I truly appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

Heath, have you ever tried the plyable / tieable thin “TyGear” wire? I never got into it but it was an interesting product I have bought but never really used it.

Nope. I'm old school when it comes to wire... maybe one of these days though. Thanks for the idea

Tyger wire is off the market now, was a great product, used it all the time for bluefish on the flyrod. Closest thing that I have found is Rio Wire Bite.
@triathletechink693 жыл бұрын
heya Heath, do you think this can be used to fasten a small piece of wire to a slow pitch jig? Or do you think the wire would affect the action of the jig, and or would the action of the jig cause the wire to kink and break off. I lost 2 300g jigs last weekend and at $20 a pop, it is gonna get expensive. And they were definitely bit off, I think a big Wahoo, both times.
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. When it comes to wire leader on jigs, I don't recommend it. I know it's a bummer to lose slow pitch jigs especially with how much they cost. I've lost plenty and it does not make my day go better when it happens. Ultimately you can use a small 6in trace of wire if you want to. however it is going to affect the action of the fall of the jig a little bit. Ultimately you will have to just learn how to adjust your pitch so that you can get the jig to act right and get into that hookup. Remember your shock cord is what stretching and enabling The jig to pitch and fall properly. Having that little piece of wire at the end of it is what will make it fall a little bit differently than what it would if it was just on the mono or fluorocarbon. Hope this helps. thanks again for all your support of the channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)

Does this work for titanium wire??
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. Yes it does work on titanium. What matters is the pound test wire you are using... it has to be thin enough to form the loop and cinch down on the line instead of form a kink. Thicker wire will kink and break under pressure. Hope this helps. Thanks again for always being here, and for your support of the channel. Sincerely, couldn't get this done without you. Tight lines & take care ;)
