-When you use motor plate/cradle for you engine, you should use a mid-mount too. That will control the roll or flex of the engine. I've seen on other car KZbin shows, were they use a front mount with a mid-plate for cars with high horsepower. Also it makes it easier to put in and take out the motor.

Why don’t you use bushing mounts instead of hard-mounting the transmission(metal in metal) exactly…don’t be worried about the transmission bushing going out it will take 5 years to happen 😂😂would take 2 mins to change 😅

Sounds like the flywheel is trying to sell clearance! .I'd try jacking up the back of the motor w/ the rear wheels off the ground to take whatever tension may have already been on the bell housing from the mount positions.. crack the bolts loose between the trans and motor and re-torque to spec with the juck still supporting the rear of the motor. Start it, throw it in gear and see if its gone. Love your content, brother! Hope this helps.

Hood scoop looks killer, I think like a bunch of other people said in the comments here check the flex plate to crank and torque converter to flex plate bolts. That's where I would start.😅

Like other people are saying, I would check your torque converter bolts and your flywheel bolts. Also make sure you don’t have a starter shim that slid out of place and can be hitting a torque converter bolt or something. You would be surprised, but I have seen it happen also the block spacer plates that go between the engine and the trans I have seen them bend ever so slightly and a bolt or a high spot on your flexplate will rub in that area, that is kind of what it sounds like to me, buddy luck keep putting out good content maybe one day in the future we will meet maybe work on a build together who knows what the future may bring

The chatter..is the linkage giving a full.. full throw into park and then out of it. Cable and bushings. You have for sure installed plenty of ford colum shifters i bet. Mine was a bit out of wack and i couldn't get into gear all the way in one direction of throw.

Look up the Gude Bullfrog hood for the CRX, that’s an option too if you’re interested. It’s not the best looking hood in my opinion but it’s very 2000’s and it doesn’t steer the car away from the CRX originality.

Check if the flexplate has cracks between the lightening holes. Sounds like chatter or sometimes even like a rod knock. It'll make noise when in park/neutral but will go away when in gear and a load on it.

Might want to pull the tranny out and check for any marks inside the bellhousing and to also double check the flexplate to crank bolts. But have you checked the front balancer or pulleys to see if they are rubbing on the crossmember?

off topic but i know that hood will no longer open fully or itll hit the windshield cause when we but hood risers on our crx hood we opened the hood and it cracked the corners of the windshield, so to be cool you should consider making the hood open forward lke those old corvettes!

theres a way you can flare the holes in the cowl hood idk how to explain it but it would provide a more finished look. or you can put rubber/plastic grommets around the holes. just throwin out ideas, i think this car is sick

Did you check the end of the crank to make sure there was no old piolet shaft bushing or bearing still left in it. If so it wouldn’t let the tourq converter go up in the crank enough and it would pull back on the flex plate a bit. Letting the teeth on the plate rub on the starter nose.

That chatter sounds like flexplate to torque converter bolts. My 97 silverado had the same noise when I had a guy redo my transmission.

Badass idea get another honda hood any other hood with the emblem cut 2" inches from the front. That way you have the curves from the front. Then removed the emblem off the CRX and leave the emblem on the hood scoop.

I really believe that the noise is coming from your starter gear rubbing against the flex plate gear. The noise sounds the same when you crank it up. I just think you need to add a shim to your starter.

I would check flex plat bolts to the converter first...Check the plate between engine and transmission...could be bent a little causing it to scrub. Might take starter off and look in bellhousing to see if you see scrap marks on anything. To me it sounds like the flex plate is hitting the metal between engine and transmission.

When welding panels like your hood scoop, do the majority of the welding on the inside. Less grinding and less bodywork in the end.

Put the car up on Jack stands and then put a floor jack under the transmission where it mates to the engine, start the car and put it in gear Pretty fast way to check if the mounts are causing the issue

When we body dropped my brother's B2000 we made a cowl hood. We used the tops of 2 fenders to make the sides and the round front corners match.

The air cleaner could of been moved using a carburator adaptor for an air clear hose hooked up to an air filter near the wheel wells. It would of been low profiled, but what the heck do I know? I don't know. At the near end of this video of the burnout made me laugh! "SMOKE'IN!"😂 I know nothing on how to get rid of the chatter.

Sounds like flex plate hitting inspection cover. Either inspection cover is bent or you are bowing in the middle. Add a mid plate to fix that.

I'm loving the look of this build Casey it's making one of my dreams come true! Now I need to own it after you get tired of it an my dream for the CReX will be complete. Seriously love what you are doing on this this build I'm so excited for you Casey! I know how I would feel about building this project so I empathize with your feelings on this project. Sounds like my 3 builds they all have the chatter b4 in gear but that's all due too 2 of them being twin disc clutch and other has a triple disc clutch

With a chattering the first second or so. I'm going to say it's the torque converter bolts. I can say you can check the flywheel bolts but I'm pretty sure the flywheel is brand new. Let me know if I'm wrong. I'm going to say 100% torque converter bolts.
