My Patrons have been teasing me about the ending. As they make the preposterous claim, that there are actually SEVEN bells in the pit. Not six. But obviously they are mistaken. indeed she did. The artists name is "Zahmbei". I gave her a specific screenshot of the garden. With the specific instructions to put them all on different layers, particularly limbs, so I could keyframe them with some very basic motion. And I exported them all into my After Effects composition, taking great care to match their precise starting positions - imgur.com/fNsia50 Then I put a little solid beneath them all and cut shapes out using the masking tool to give them fake shadows. To help sell that they were in the scene - i.imgur.com/stovTGb.gifv I wanted it to 'surprise' those already familiar with the game. By implying that Ron just freaking died!

Many thanks. That was actually a really late addition to the edit. As the Patrons (who get the video early) often provide really helpful feedback. And one of them pointed out that the bottle is on screen for a lot of the rest of the video. So I figured I'd keyframe it in for the eagle-eyed viewers. Telling the "Null Objects", the little invisible squares that follow everything, to track the neck of the milk bottle. Much easier said than done with the strange camera in Untitled Goose Game. Which has a habit of zooming in and out often, spoiling your positioning if something has to be a specific size. Edit - You can actually catch me out if you watch the milk bottle in slow motion. You can see the text wobbling weirdly at times. A difficult thing to make perfect.

@JunkyardDigs So on average, it takes about 1 day for every 60 seconds of footage. At least, in this particular format. It actually means it's fairly easy to gauge how long a particular video is going to take after the initial cutting. As if you bookend the process by a week of cutting at the start, then a couple of weeks of polish at the end, you get a ballpark figure that's normally pretty accurate :) A 10 minute average bullshittery for example. That's about 10 total days of keyframing. Therefore two weeks of just that. Four or five in total.

Thanks :) So that's actually a text layer with the word "HONK". But After Effects lets you convert it to a Shape layer. Which in turn, come with all of the little grabbing and twisting points that let you manipulate any shape. So I squished the new shape into the rough outline of a bottle, put a Null Object (invisible square) at the neck of the glass, then told it to autotrack as much as it could - stepping in to do it manually where necessary. It kind of worked. But it was wonky in places. Particularly in the face of scaling (zooming) and rotation.

Thanks. That's called "masking". And it involves cutting little shapes out of layers to create the illusion that text is moving behind objects in the scene - i.imgur.com/s8OQzpk.gifv Years ago, I used to cut shapes into the text layer. But that often proved a suckers way of doing things, because if you changed the layer properties (like its size), you usually had to re-do any masking. What I like to do now is duplicate the footage at the top of project, then lock it so I don't fiddle with it, and then cut all the shapes out of that. So it doesn't matter how much I change the text underneath. The text isn't the thing being masked - but the table the text is moving under. Interestingly (though I lack the resources and incentive) one could theoretically localise the videos into other languages. And all masking and animation would be entirely preserved.

Many thanks. So there was actually quite a high percentage of automation on this one. To the point that it was something of a treat for me. Normally I'm doing something like this, moving the square around manually - i.imgur.com/PemDjpU.gifv .Particularly with something like ARMA, where the software gets really confused on trying to identify a "head". I mean look at this visual soup - i.imgur.com/nwpEzvE.gifv Here though I was often able to say "follow the black dot in the white shape". And the tracker could do it easily. Meaning I only had to step in when the goose turned around, or did something unexpected - i.imgur.com/jNkdnDm.gifv What became complicated was simply the number of clips. The number of After Effects compositions. Something like 268 rather than your usual 60-90 ish. And animating all of them became something of a time sink.

The T-Rex screeching *AVOOOOON* in the Model Village had me quite literally crying with laughter. Thank you for that. *"Blood! Blood for the Blood Goose!"* Alien: Isolation but instead of Amanda Ripley you're the Goose from Untitled Goose Game. Instead of trying to make no noise you just go throughout the level finding people trying to hide, sneak up behind them, and honk loudly, thus drawing the attention of the titular Xenomorph. "Oi, there's someone hiding in this locker. You should come eat them." translation *honkhonkhonkhonkhonk...honk.* Also a facehugged Goose sounds like it would spawn quite a unique boss type monster. Goosomorph. Xenogoose? Queen Aligoose
