You can make some of the weediest looking weapons feel like the most crunchy fucking double barrel shotguns so as long as you can get those firing visuals/mechanics down perfectly.

@@livingcorpse5664 same can be done with sound for an ai enemy, ad F.E.A.R. does that one really well for the ai is nothering out of the norm BUT the devs gave them like 3 voice triggers for each posable cover so good sound can really help

Just finished it. Man what a mod. Slaying hundrets of demons while powermetal plays in the backround. 10/10 I had to cheat once because the doors opened only if I killed all demons, but some of them got stuck and wouldn't teleport to the arena.

Space Cats Ep 1 is by far the most fun I've had in a UV playthrough in a very, VERY long time. Effortlessly shredding through hordes of enemies with low tier weapons and breaking out the heavy artillery for a few nasty ambushes.

Dooms simple code and extreme backwards compatibility gives you endless possibilities. ID also encouraged the doom modding community to come to be as it is and Romero has played many doom mods himself.

Played through this chapter myself a few months back. It's pretty good and this could just be me but the projectiles feel a little off, especially in the underwater sections where they seem to overshoot the enemy at times.

i noticed that too, aim a little up underwater and the projectiles go to the ceiling. that's also when i realised the pistol at least is actually hitscan and the projectiles are just for show. i'm fine with that though

Prolly in the minority on this one but I actually loved the Draw and Junction Systems in FF8. Sure it was time consuming but once you got a decent pool of spells together it allowed for a degree of character stat customization that the other FFs just lack imo. It also made the game more unique and dynamic imo and once I got the hang of it it grew to be one of my favorite battle mechanics of all time tbh What *I* really dont like about 8 is enemies scaling to level, punishing players for grinding in a game that also requires you to farm AP for your Guardian Forces and to farm monsters for spells doesnt make a lick of sense and is where most of the frustration comes from imho. My friend Abram and I have talked about 8's gameplay mechanics in length on multiple occasions and have both come to the conclusion that Squaresoft must not have done a ton of playtesting for 8.

I think Draw is not great because of the time thing, but there's the Refine ability to make up for it. I like Junction is good for the customization like you mention

I think the gridning if i recall works best when you time it right. Early on isnt a good idea but a bit later. I didnt mind the draw junction either. Allowed soe freedol and experimentation

Also you can equip something or something to pevent xp in ff8 if i recall hearing about it and lowering your level some how.

FF8's greatest failing is that the Draw system is a really neat _idea_ but it's just awful to play as made.

Encourages far too much aimless grinding and time-wasting. Which was fun back in the late 90's when there were just far fewer games in general, and those you had were expected to last a long time. In this age though where one can easily buy 30 games a year and never even play half of them, mechanics like that are quite dated.

Doesn't look nearly as ridiculous as the stupid cat chick in the thumbnail led me to expect, even though the jellybean recolors of some enemies like the cacos and lost souls rank pretty high on the WTF-is-the-artist-blind scale. The mod actually looks pretty good if you disregard those recolors and the fact that the weapons don't fit the art style of the textures.
