Space Engineers - Supply Line & Auto Doors (Hard Survival)

Today we're idiot-proofing our elevator, because I'm an accident prone idiot. There's also some heavy digging work to expand the basement.
This is a Space Engineers playthrough with permadeath turned on, jet pack and autoheal turned off, and no 3rd person view. We're using daily needs survival kit...on Pertam, it's super dark, and the risk of failure is very high. Join me on the pain train.

If I may humbly suggest; you can turn doors on/off with a timer block. So, if you were to create one for each floor, and have it turn off doors for all floors you don't intend to visit, then even with the sensors, the other doors shouldn't open, and with an extra, you could even turn off the interior door, so it's not opening and closing, then use the spare to turn that door back on once your elevator arrives at its destination. Also, when you said you had done something entirely for fun, it unlocked a memory for me. I once built a turntable to turn my rover around for an indoor garage. I had made the garage a little too tight to comfortably turn the vehicle around without an Austin-Powers grade million-point turn, so instead of doing the easy thing and drilling away more space, I made a turntable, and even used it to weld up the floor while I was at it. It was large, and a bit of a pain to set up, between timer blocks and buttons, but in the end, I was super satisfied. It used a piston with extension limits, a rotor, and the armour plates, and always made me nervous when it wiggled, but it was worth it. Played that save for quite a while.

You can grind the ores with the grinder and it will delete them. So when you broke the drill you could have ground the rocks to nothing.

Superb progress chap - I'm not sure if you turned the pit drills back on? The lift glass looks very nice - stylish. I've got far too much of a hangover today, to think of suggestions - mai gawd. Looking forwards to the next one fella!

An other option for the elevator doors would be to build a second timer block for each floor. Make each 1st timer close all elevator doors and the 2nd timer open a particular door. That is if your oke with each trip being just as fast instead of a consistent elevator speed
