Awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying the series! That is a very good tip - one I knew but rarely consider. My personal thoughts are we need platinum for ion thrusters to make this efficient - especially for zero g builds. A ship with a welder and grinder would be ideal, but we also need to get some essential facilities up first. Good thinking, and something I do want to do!

The AI copilot edited bit was really well done! It still has a long way to go before the AI can simulate more dynamic conversation and feedback (Most AI conversations I've seen tend to repeat back the human speaker's prompting, which is cool for showing that the model can recognize what's being said. But of course there's not real comprehension behind the LLM.). Same goes for simulating more personality -- even just some stock, simple TV show / cartoon / anime archetypes. It'd be crazy and cool if the field as a whole advanced enough to make your depiction a reality in real-time gameplay, in the next ... 5-20 years? No editing, just a few attempts/takes for a single continuous recorded episode. I love how you've embraced AI (such as it is now) as a content creation tool. It fits the whole SE vibe both as gameplay and theme. And your editing for the spaceflight shots is wonderful as always. Your composition and choice of music is always atmospheric (even in vacuum). Coasting for half a real day in simulated space is probably not healthy fodder for the algo, but this was a pretty fun contrarian way to bite your thumb at optimal content. :D
@Psy-Prime
@Psy-Prime 6 күн бұрын
Optimal content be damned, I'm telling the story as it happens :) That's an interesting point of view on AI progress and where it's going - I'd have to say I think we're so much closer to real-time gameplay AI at a genuinely conversational level - in fact, the AI I'm using here is extraordinarily close! For some context I was using a paid-for version of ChatGPT 4o, and the only edits in the conversation were to cut out the short delays between responses - and one or two long ones caused by connection loss. There was no rehearsal, pre-scripting, or retakes. Of course, the model isn't quite complete yet - 4o is missing the audio-video capability that it was designed with (waiting on the release of that). If you're unfamiliar - that puts the 'o' in 4o - o for Omni. This will give GPT the capability to directly process audio and video in, and directly respond with audio without having to pass through a text input / output process- meaning 4o will be able to read tone, emotion, expression, and pronunciation, and respond in kind including whispering, character, and use of pause words / sounds, laughs and giggles. So our ships AI will be getting a major upgrade in the coming months. Exciting times! Thanks as always for watching! I massively appreciate that you took the time to share your thoughts :)

@dakaodo 5 күн бұрын
@@Psy-Prime Yeah! I saw some of the announcement/hype videos around ChatGPT 4o's release. It definitely looks cool, if it delivers everything promised in the teasers. I've seen some discussions about 1) the tactical uses of conversational pauses, and 2) ethics in pitching this kind of product to consumers. Someone pointed out that pause words, giggles, etc are a useful way to buy time -- just like real humans would while they gather their thoughts for a second. It lets a human or LLM AI hide processing or cache ahead in the conversation. So it kills two birds with one stone, makes virtue of a vice, etc. That said, I had not paid much attention to the AI ethics debate, but I saw some shake-ups around members of OpenAI. Supposedly, one of the concerns that ethicists are discussing is the potential for a sufficiently human-like AI to pose a tempting alternative for some people to transfer their social and emotional interaction needs onto a more limited and definable/controllable substitute conversation/relationship partner. That is, if AI developers don't strictly control what their AI models can do or are allowed to. I think it's kinda tilting at windmills, though. Some boffin out there is GOING to make a girlfriend bot with realistic conversational interaction, and users are GOING to be able to specify personality lenses like 20% tsundere, 5% cute nyancat, etc. XD I've already seen some people prematurely posting "first AI girlfriend" content that isn't really there yet. I'm using cute anime examples, but given what AI has already fulfilled for Internet Rule #34, I don't think that trend is going to abruptly stop any time. :D Both IRL and online, I have dealt with a lot of people who indulge our innate human risk aversion to various distorted extents -- people who choose the blue pill's illusory world and social isolation instead of developing a risk appetite for a more real-world life with all its mundane risks. Heck, I AM one, given how much I'm emotionally invested in my parasocial relationships online. XD I can't really knock it, b/c I am more than half positive I'd totally sign up for a toolkit that lets me run a local instance of a "cute but sassy" female Jarvis. I'd want to use it as an always-available accountability buddy to motivate me to get out of the house. But I also know I'd be partially transferring my emotional needs onto it even as it did its job. Sooo how to protect (some of) us from our own worst tendencies? :D So many people spend a big chunk of their waking hours online and in video games. What happens when the AI gets good enough to give us a consistent and tame online gaming experience with other "players" instead of having to roll the dice on weird shock-jock or racist griefers and trolls in every Squad or CoD lobby? :D I'm 2+ decades past that peak (or low?) of my life, but if I were 25-30 again, I'd sure as heck jump at the chance of a more consistent non-human interaction. And that's directly going off precedent when I spent 15 minutes total in GTA V online lobbies, before I swore off other GTA players forever and subsequently spent 100s of hours in solo lobbies with just myself and the inane scripted game NPCs. XD

@@Psy-Prime Oh, and yeah it might happen in far fewer than 5-20 years. I think what's sufficiently realistic here is very subjective, and 4o may already be sufficient for some purposes, as you described. It's really amazing that you had that seamless of a production experience with it. That makes me genuinely excited about seeing more uses of it and maybe trying it out for myself if I can find some good scenarios. Broadly, I'm going off of my previous experience with VR. I said I'd wait a generation or three to see it gain more widespread adoption, development, and lower costs via economies of scale. What I see is still a bit too jittery, even though it's VERY cool. (I'm one of those people who get big nausea from the eye-ear-brain imbalance thing) Still waiting after a decade-plus, personally. Similarly for AI chatbots that feel sufficiently real, I'm holding out for something I wouldn't mind chatting with in an IRL environment for 15-30 minutes. Like, if I'm going to ask ChatGPT about e.g. whether due to constant horse riding medieval knights were as bow-legged as American western frontier cowboys (or whether the latter was even real), I'd love for the convo to be part consensus, part revelation (new to me info), and part healthy discussion/debate. (This specific AI-as-movie-Jarvis/Her/etc scenario is totally separate from much more mundane uses of AI tools for more usual work/creative tasks.)
@Psy-Prime
@Psy-Prime 4 күн бұрын
That would seem to be the general consensus, about the risks to social behaviour and participation. For now at least it would seem that some precautions are being taken. The omni-voice model is delayed another month while OpenAI work on safety and GPT's ability to refuse certain kinds of requests, while at the same time they upscale their architecture to allow en-masse realtime use upon wider launch. I've seen independent early testing of the full model, and it would appear that the demos we've all seen are genuine use of the AI. That, and the ever accelerating development thanks to improved hardware for training the models, and the use of AI itself to further AI research, leads me to expect we'll be seeing the advent of General AI and near indistinguishable conversational ability within 18-24 months. Hold on to your hat!

@dakaodo 4 күн бұрын
@@Psy-Prime Yeah, the tools that help us make better tools are compounding and accelerating development. :D Ethics aside, as a creator how would you feel about enlisting a small crew of AI engineer teammates in a game like SE? In any capacity from merely conversation props to full-on in-game AI players. They could be a background NPC population, to a supporting cast for you alone or you and Sp33dw33d. Someone did an AI-powered conversation mod for Bannerlord as a proof of concept, using NPC-specific sets of "personal knowledge" for the AI to draw on for each NPC's conversation. It was like watching an old 80s text adventure like Zork, but in realtime and with less obvious multiple choice response options. And speaking of GTA V, someone there did something similar including AI voices and personalities. Filling the emptiness of SE's world has been a long-time wishlist item for the community, and Keen are dropping hints about it in their next update. I can see that the automaton update may have laid some of the groundwork for more active future NPC factions, though probably not in the imminent exploration update..?

She's exceptional at naming - except that boom-er-ang implies an unwanted return-to-sender.... She also came up with blammo torpedo. Unfortunately I failed to un-pause recording for that conversation. So, I've decided, in the interest of keeping the missile printable and at a manageable size I'm forgoing the decoy dispersion and instead will pre-launch some more durable decoys from the launcher ahead of the missile. It's more reliable, and with less points of failure. The missile will spin though - but more to keep any fire from being concentrated in one spot, and to look cool. Thanks for watching Mackers!

@@Psy-Prime Well, at least she didn't call it the mk14 torpedo 😆 That makes more sense to me, I wouldn't even differentiate between a decoy and the real deal. Fire/drop/launch several real-deals with 3-5 seconds interval - the turrets shouldn't be able to lock onto them that quick (except the first one). Thank you! So, the FS doesn't have a remote control - yet. When the time comes to look at short range remote mining it's something I can add easily. For a rescue option - it really doesn't work as suit antenna range is too feeble to give a long enough window for rescue. The only option for this is the Idle movement option in the turrets settings. You can set it quickly with build vision or in the settings before it's built to stop it misaligning, but unfortunately there's no master override. Maybe a script on the grid that checks every few minutes for turrets on the grid and disables the idle movement automatically could save you from forgetting. I bet ChatGPT 4 could code that for you.

Also I am a hobbyist game programmer and in a regular meetup with a group of awesome programmers. Your use of Copilot and ChatGPT4 to get a valuable script is spot on. One of my friend in that group is like a VP of programming at a large company that is heavily invested in using AI to increase productivity. The best approach he and the other have found is to get the AI to give you the approaches you should use and take small iterative steps of refinement to hone into the final script. It is way better at smaller scripts then at large complicated scripts, so keeping it narrow works most effectively. Your approach is right on the mark, so awesome job! and nice to see someone showing how to use it in a very real and immediately applicable way! We live in a new and exciting time where you don't have to even know how to code to get a fancy script to make your vision a reality, although knowing would help. For you and your audience there is a youtuber that makes great content on game programming that just released a great tutorial for C# that is free, goes from beginner to intermediate, and soon advanced topics. "CodeMonkey" is the youtuber, and the video to start at is "Learn C# Beginner FREE Tutorial Course! I am enjoying your video's Psy. The addition of the Chat GPT4 (Athena) is a nice touch a bit of a "2001 Spacy Odyssey" vibe for me reminds me of "HAL." I love your ability to walk us through your process and show how to make a sandbox your own fun journey. I feel like having an audience in us probably helps you as well as it give you nice concrete display for your feats of fancy including showing us exactly how space dementia happens in real life. Jumping out of a almost full velocity ship to save on scraps of energy potentially causing a wipe of the mission that was at that point a real life investment of over a day, true space dementia thinking, but great Hollywood tension! PsyPrime = Steve Buscemi in Armageddon. Love your content! It is the calm nature, self motivation, and inventive self narrative that keeps me coming back. Though I am one to wait until you have 25+ video's so I can binge. I thought I might give you a thing I like to do on a visual que for alignment of connectors just a peek into my psyche. I like to put a spot light to the left and right of the connector and face a camera to view the approach. Then I set the colors of the light to something like Green and Red or Blue and Green. The additive nature of light means that the Vin Diagram overlap of the light radius's will mix to another color Green and Red = White light, Blue and Green = Yellow I am pretty sure. Then set the radius to something small and set the intensity to something easy to see. You make sure your approach is in the Vin Diagram overlap and you know you are good if as you approach the lights start to separate appropriately. Also I like the "Fancy Status Displays v2" display script to see things like component damage, container capacity, power usage, and battery charge at a glance. Nice to see that a drill is partially damaged from the cockpit display or if weight is an issue how much of my containers are full, etc... Since these are icons and not words it is easy to quickly visualize the changes. I must admit it was the 2 idiot series that even had me looking at the cool mods in the first place, found the fancy status display while looking at some of those types of mods because I saw how much more immersive your mods made your play through feel. So thank you for the awesome content, the opening of the mods to me, and the entertainment.

I've been trying to get AI blocks to work, same issues you (and everyone else) have highlighted here with the height above ground. I can't understand how KSH didn't anticipate people would want to use AI for miners. So I use PAM for drift miners, and SCAM for bore miners (the latter being my preference because of how it handles drone swarms). But I still want to find a solution so I can use AI blocks, because as you noted, not everyone can run scripts. The piston connector to go < 0 AGL is BRILLIANT, though :) One issue though - your return waypoints are relative to the beacon, and set with the connector up high, but with the piston extended the drone is liable to hit that and not connect because it wants to go higher? So maybe put the beacon beside the connector so it won't matter where the piston puts the connector? I couldn't tell, but I'm wondering if you have the flight block set to align to P-gravity, and set the max angles both to 0? That might solve the problem with it toppling over either on hitting the ground or in the borehole, especially on rise? Might also want to make the arch a couple of blocks higher to make sure the drone is clear of the borehole before it goes into docking mode?
@Psy-Prime
@Psy-Prime 20 күн бұрын
Those suggestions about moving the beacon…. Or setting the beacon after extending the piston… and the tips about max angle ( it is set to align) are exactly what this system needs to fix the last issues! Thank you 🙏

I know the feeling! Only 3 choices remain in that situation: 1. Mods - there’s a lot of block options via mods but then you’re limited to having use those mods to use the grid in its full form. 2. Redesign to use the blocks you have - can be limiting but at least it’s a working modless design. 3. Best fit. Lean into the mismatch and make it a feature, or mask the issue with something bigger. Always a big bug bear for me too!

I tryed this before but not the seed from space part. I had towers of assembers and refineries that built themselves. I used projector seption to make it happen, the seed projector contained a blueprint that had a projector in it that also contained a blue print which had a projector and blue print and so on. I went 10 layers deep with the projector seption and only stopped because the blueprint was starting to take up Gbs of data. The result was cool though the tower grew from my base and each level spawned a new level. @@Psy-Prime do you have a tutorial for setting this up?
@Psy-Prime
@Psy-Prime 28 күн бұрын
@@Byrkster you won’t need a whole tutorial. This ChatGPT voice mode only works through the app on Apple devices - So I plug my Mac audio out into my recording setup and run it from that. Totally separate to the game - she’s just extremely good at role playing like she’s in the game.

great videos, just came across your channel. Do you have a tutorial on how you had ChatGPT to assist you?

Hi, thanks, and welcome 😁 I don’t yet but I’ll put an explainer in an episode - it’s not complex enough to warrant a thing if its own.

you can use a contract block and create a search contract for verne , this will give you a gps of the grid when you accept it

Wait what! That’s an actual thing in SE? I’ll admit I’ve not used the mission system very much. Ok then… that’s plan C if the script fails. Thank you!

@@Psy-Prime yep! its not the intended way for search contracts to be used but it works extremely well

Awesome job Psy and Athena! I hope that script works to get the GPS coordinates. If it does that's a good tool to add to the ol' toolbelt!

Great episode, I love ship designs, the ship looks really cool,I do like the wing look. Iv always loved the different sci fi ships, I think starcitizen has some of the best looking ship's. And damn talk about overkill on thrusters 😂.
@Psy-Prime
@Psy-Prime Ай бұрын
Thanks El Cid. Yes, SC does have the most awesome designs! Especially up close. And yes I’ve gone very overkill - possibly. Ship’s gonna be heavy with a full load but we’ll test and decide how many thrusters we need to keep.

Eleventy out of ten for the intro chap - top shelf! Triumpth do some superb bikes, quite partial to a Bonneville for cruising. For Summer I used the GSXR's, for winter I used the GSX-F - trooper of a bike, just gutless - ideal for poor weather (rain/hail/ice/snow). The ChatGPT implementation was superb, I wonder, what is her favourite colour for a Space Ship? Is her name Chatuper? I thought I caught some Southern tones, I'm a Kent lad myself. A plain HobNob is acceptable, my tea cup is 1 pint capacity - a whole pack of HobNobs can consume nearly a 3rd of it! 😆 That 'yellow moment' - I felt that.

I've got my version on the workshop, with a carrier ship on there as well. Paid you credit where it's due on the auto miner. Awesome idea man! I had fun trying to make it work like yours. I did not plumb a sorter in. It grabs everything, I sort it out later.

Great episode. Love the AI idea, crazy how it sounds like a real ship AI,funny that it has an American accent 😂 and not a posh English accent. Lol also iv been using the AI suno to make songs, maybe you could make some music for your videos,I thought it was really funny when the AI started speaking a different language 😂. I look forward to the next episode.

Haha thanks El Cid. I think one Brit is enough for now but maybe when we get the full voice functionality of gpt-4o it’ll be possible. As for music… I actually do create some myself, not by ai though. But it’s not as good as what I have access to through licensing lol.
