My favorite LGS closed about 10 years ago. It was the place we all gathered every wednesday, friday and saturday. Everything I learned there, the friends I made. Never have I found a store to replace this feeling of coming home when you entered it, greeting the regulars, having a drink waiting on the counter, and with the drink in hand checking out some new releases. Working with the owner and my friends decorating the store for Christmas and special release days. Just writing this gets me real nostalgic, I moved away from my hometown 6 years ago, but sometimes when I visit I drive past the house where the store used to be and it always fills me with joy and nostalgia. I wish that everyone had a great LGS for meeting and making friends. On a different note, loved the video, its amazing to hear the love you have for your LGS, and the minis look ace! Great job as always!

Local independent game stores are amazing - got into this hobby after my bf took me along to their weekly game night. Just a few interesting guys and gals of all ages in the room above the shop, sharing pizza and stories. I was hooked. I always try to buy my supplies and figures there whenever I can. The owner always tries his best to get hold of rare or out-of-print boxes for us.

"It never hurts to lock in your progress with a coat of varnish" Great advice that adds durability to the mini. I use Testors dull coat. It adds a micro layer of texture that really helps the next layer go on. Almost like a clear re-priming.

Dear Mr. Goobertown. I thank you for your videos, and really have to thank you for this particular one. I am patiently waiting for my copy of said Indomitus box through the Made to Order system, and they are going to be Salamanders. Additionally, I am hoping to use my airbrush for the majority of my painting them, as I need practice with it, and would love to get better. This paint scheme, with a minor amount of alterations, is absolutely astounding, and I will shamelessly use it. So thank you very much for posting this! Now if only I knew of a good way of doing lava bases.

Love it! Speaking of gaming stores in Maine, my first intro into both D&D and war gaming (not to mention painting) came while vacationing in Maine. There was a wonderful store in Bath Maine called “The Toy Soldier”. This would have been back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Pretty sure it was when D&D exploded onto the scene. Anyway, I can still picture the owner with his pipe - he was so nice, patient - sat me down at his painting station and let me have at it. Mom would go shopping and come back hours later to pick me up - couldn’t have been much older than 10 - 12. Wonder if that store is still there?
