4 yrs later, just seeing these and OH man, I've been binging since the first episode, lol. These are BEAUTIFUL. AMAZES me that they've got less than 1k views though. I can tell a lot of work went into these and let me say you did a tremendous job. Thank you for uploading these. Maybe they'll get some replay now with KSP 2 out and about. Anywho, on to the next episode.

Slightly wrong at 2:35 the X-15 made it into space according to the US definition the month prior. This was the third US spaceflight under NASA, but the fourth for the US. Unless you're a good human who says space starts at 100km no matter what, then you'd be correct

I really wanted to make the X-15 but I wanted the chance to make a very good B52 first... So I decided to leave it until I focus on a whole series on this sort of thing including Virgin etc.

There are a few ways to do it. The way I did takes the longest but is very robust.

It houses 2 of 3 engines. All 3 are necessary at liftoff and early ascent, and the 2 are jettisoned to save weight.

You can make any image you like and put it in the flags folder, Use PNGs if you want transparency, failing that I'll add one later when I'm home ;)

Well if you people don’t know how to make the booster skirt stage I actually made a mock up version of that except it doesn’t look realistic you just put two radial decouplers add 2 thud engines on the side and add two sets of fuel lines it also works to some degree but I cannot provide you on the performances and the capability of what type of Paylow do you can loft with two engines attached to the side Plus I started doing this type of booster skirt when I wanted to make a realistic version of a mercury atlas but it looked really big and bulky

Realplume. But there is no up to date version of realplume, but realpume stock is up to date, but requires 2 more mods

wait is the atlas rocket an ssto? its just launch with a single stage and than to orbit

I don't think so, im sure it needs the side engines to take off and has to ditch them later to save weight in order to orbit so not counted as SSTO but you could say it gets itself to orbit.

And we’re going to be seeing more moon craft launches because this is the 1960s where rocket technology begins to accelerate at a astronomical rate and tensions are rising between two superpowers which results in two different crisis (cuban missile/Caribbean) so for myself I would say we were better off going into space and racing each other instead of firing nuclear weapons at each other and destroying major cities such as New York Chicago and possibly Cape Canaveral as a demonstration target
