What a great story! Recently, I adopted a stray kitten and just started calling him Elvis. Needless to say, the receptionist at the vet got a chuckle out of that when I called to make his first appointment. Upon picking him up, the tech that brought him out from the back loudly and proudly stopped and stated, “Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has left the building!” Got a big kick out of that especially because the girl was relatively young, how cool is that?

Amazing story shared by Rick! I now know who that famous voice belonged to, may he rest in peace. I get goosebumps just thinking about all the excitement that surrounded that one statement! Great video, as always! I've been watching you for a couple of years now and have learned so much. My interest in Elvis began in the early 80's, when as a young boy, my family visited Graceland. I have a picture of me sitting in Elvis's pink jeep from Blue Hawaii. Billy, I'm a Christian as well (I pastor a small church in rural central Ohio). I appreciate how your Christian values comes through in the work that you do. Thank you!

My Mom saw Elvis in 70 or 71 in Tampa and she recorded it with a tape recorder in her purse and the concession was interesting you can hear him say “Elvis buttons, posters, everyone wants an Elvis poster available in the lobby” very interesting to hear a snippet of the pre- concert merch sales. Sadly that tape gave out before we could digitally copy it……it was his voice for sure on her tape.

Al Dvorin. That iconic voice will always ring true. On the CBS TV special from the last tour in June of 1977, we can hear Ed Hill of The Stamps Quartet saying that famous line…"Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building. Thank you and goodnight! We'd like to remind you following this concert the Elvis super souvenir concession stand will be open for a short while." Al Dvorin was there…I have often wondered why Ed Hill took over the duties that night?

The last recording I could find of Al saying Elvis has Left the Building was St. Louis on 3/22/76. After that, it seemed to be Ed Hill from the Stamps. Now, that may not be 100% of the time...I asked Sam Thompson about this during Tribute Week and he believes that while Ed Hill did it most of the time from April '76 until the end, Al could have still said it from time to time. I've been going through my tape and CD collection of soundboards and audience recordings to find out more about this.
