People in these countries need to be educated more about the way and struggles of Europe went through until we have reached this point of kind of living. They only see the false artificial American violent netflix and daily soap operas plastered with commercials from money greedy International companies and think that they also want to have this commerce and shiny easy life. There should be more information and examples out there, how nations and single ppl can go together, change their societies, culture and environment nonviolently for a better living at their places. Especially all these young men who just think, climbing over fences is a solution, should think twice and turn to their abilities and self responsibilities: They have chosen to be born there. They wanted to do something there. The country and society there needs them. We can't all live like the wrong American way of life or Chinese unnessessary stuff, which destroys our earthship. We need diversity. Young new ideas, solutions, inventions and energy of very different variations and heads in all places. And young ppl who were privileged to study and live in other societies shouldn't just stay there for their own selfish pleasure, but go back to their own countries and societies and help to change them with their ppl together for the good of all in their diverse way of live, which they want there. There is much more place and wealth on this planet for all of us, but not for the greed and selfishness of many. We are all part of the human species and part of a wonderful diverse society on this rich earthship, not a dying artificial monoculture.

Hi Stuart, reference your report about NZ actor Antony Starr, shocking news and I recall watching him in a drama called "Banshee" he played a violent character called Lucas Hood, an ex convict who served 15yrs in prison. Such a shame that under Spanish law his prison sentence will be suspended if he doesn't commit another crime in 2yrs and he pays compensation to the victim within 72hrs. A probable case of violence spilling over from a fictitious part to real life which is unacceptable. I was saddened to hear the passing of cricket legend Shane Warne yesterday. In my opinion one of the greatest spin bowlers off all time, RIP.

Great and informative as always Stu. Though Spain is full of decent , honest and hard working people, it also has a large portion of the population that will support persons such as the disgraced and blazantly corrupt ex King Juan Carlos. Politicians right around the world are not exactly known for being the most honest folk imaginable. But what boggles the mind is the unfortunate large proportion of Spanish society that believe and support corruption. I just can't get my mind around it.

I'd like to know where in Spain you live where foreigners are called 'gringos'. Or are you a Daily Express bot?
@TheresaMueller2 жыл бұрын
@Dude Lebowski Well, it speaks for yourself, using the word "Gringos"! In places, where they use these words they know why. Ppl living for 5,10 or more years in other countries and not being interested in their environment and ppl of their chosen society and country, not caring just to learn the language of them may very well be called and distinct as "Gringos" because they are. For example: I have watched so many videos about "Experts of Costa Rica" here on KZbin and they even cannot pronounce right the country's name in Spanish! So many "expats" mingle only together in their English speaking ghettos. What do you expect? My Spanish is not perfect. But every Spanish word you learn and speak opens up the heart of locals and brings you closer to them. And it is also a sign of respect of guests towards our hosts of a different country. We can have the written "right" to live in foreign countries. But being part of a different society and culture takes some humbleness and effort. And should remind us constantly everywhere, that we are only a guest for a very short lifetime here on this earth planet spaceship and live as guests, not as conquerers, destroying our own living space.

In Portugal we pay almost €1.80 a liter, and that is at the hipermarket self service. That price is supposed to increase by 7 cents on Monday. Since I live on the border with Spain I can fill up there and it is a bit cheaper, €1.60 a liter. Americans can count themselves lucky.
