Hey, Spanj: Thanks for the informative tut. Sometimes I like building individual buildings for specific tasks. Just to do something different. Will definitely be using this in the future.

@Spanj (Note: Copied this from my other comment, so it would not be buried as sometimes others don't open all the comments) Thank you!! It worked perfectly -- switched to creative mode, merged 3 structures, and then switched back to survival mode and all three now show as one BA. Lights on Landing Pad are on, despite there being no source of power on the Landing Pad itself, so power is magically transmitted to all merged structures...this is great IMO because it means I can put generators, fuel tanks, etc. in separate building. Regarding distance: one structure is 290-feet (88m +/-) from Main/Master, and the second is 330-feet (100m +/-) away from Main/Master structure. The Wireless gadget (don't remember name) that is part of the 'Logistics' system has a range of 100-meters, so one would need to keep that in mind when putting distance between structures, ie 'centralize' the location of the wireless piece so as to get coverage to all parts of the city/base (if that is important to user/player). Again, thank you for your time and assistance and making all these informative and helpful videos. I'm liking this game more and more!!

i wish they would add a control to make you face one of the 4 directions kind of like o does for leveling you out but instead this would make you make direct N S E W. maybe make you face which ever direction you are looking that way you can align bases easier in survival mode :)

A liiiiiiiitttle clickbaity with the thumbnail xD But this is great. Except for building with repair pads... Since you can only have 1 per core. I think it'd be best to leave them as seperate structures, just aligning them is enough. Also if making a city, you dont really want the whole city as 1 structure, because then half of the city close to you will disappear if the other half far away is beyond render range xD It will treat every building as the same render distance. What you want, is seperate but aligned structures so they load and unload individually, to not have the entire city POP in at 5m from your face, if the far end is so far away. Or perhaps the best thing is to do like Star citizen does / will do in 3.3 Make city "blocks" like cubic puzzle pieces, as individual structures. That way you get easy placement and alignment, but still some segmentation for range of rendering to load and unload the blocks (i mean block as in a city block, not as in building block) properly.

Sorry it was a little clickbaity but you can really use this to build a small city, you don't have to use the Mergestructs -ex command , just use it once to align everything but keep them separated structures, you can then build block connectors between the buildings etc. its annoying mergestructs is only available in creative though.

that brings up an idea: is it possible to merg vessels? Like kitbash some parts of different blueprints to an amazing new vessel?

this only works on bases i'm afraid :(

I just started playing this game two days ago, so forgive if this is something that's common knowledge I'll learn later: my current game/world is in 'Survival Mode'...I found abandoned structures I am taking over and I'd like to 'merge' as you've demonstrated in this video...can I switch my game mode to creative, merge the pre-existing structures as you showed here, then switch my game back to 'survival mode'? How far apart can structures be, and still be merged as one? The abandoned buildings I'm currently looking at making into my beginner base are approx. 210-feet apart (about 64 meters). Once separate structures are 'merged' will power from the mother/parent structure magically flow to the others, or does each structure need it's own power source attached to it? Thank you for your time and assistance, and for the time/effort of producing these videos to help others.

Hey Band S, open up your game console by hitting the ~ key or it might be ' on a UK keyboard. type help and it will give a list of commands, one of them allows you to switch the game mode to creative and back again. I'm not sure the max distance that structures can be merged and please note also, if it lets you merge the structures one of them will shift to align with the block grid of the first, which may screw up the ground around it a bit. I recommend backing up your save game first and give it a try, if it breaks then you can revert to your backup no problem. Hope this helps :)

Better tut vid than the first one I saw in this..Thanks Spanj. ☺ I was thinking about merging the landing platform with my current base..until that parts limit thing...Both the landing pad and the hangar have repair bays, one for CVS and one for smaller stuff..and I don't want to lose that in this base ☺ Does keeping block limits off in setup resolve that? I may have to make a copy and find out. 😎
@Spanj6 жыл бұрын
This was a creative game so there are no device limits but i have found that both Solar panels and repair bays and limited regardless. I guess there is a mechanic limitation in game preventing more than the set number rather than just a configuration limit.
@solospirit42126 жыл бұрын
Nod...I can see the limit being there purely for game mechanics rather than gameplay reasons..maybe that restriction will be eased later. No worries if it isn't tho..its not a gamebreaker. ☺

After you have connected (2) bases, can you separate them? I want to separate a section of my base and give it it's own dedicated power system.

My friend and I took over the derelict ship in space and turned it into space base but the rotation is terrible for the solar panels. I know what I'm doing tonight. Thanks

Thats quite good! I usually dont wanna cheat in games, but when its something that SHOULD be realistically possible (rotate your station to face the sun), then its definetly a sensible thing to do.

Do all the new BA parts of the target structure fall into the Ungrouped Devices of the control panel? Or will it ruin the existing parent BA groupings and signals? Thanks.

It would be good if they will add energy generators that energize buildings (with individual core) that are close by... sorry for my English

Can you do this with ships? I was thinking it would be nice to have modular parts for sections you build or use a lot in your designs. If this would work you would just have to set them in place and merge them together.
@Spanj6 жыл бұрын
The forum post mentions it only works with bases on planets for now.

@@Spanj - Darn. I guess I'll have to build up a parts ship that I can use to copy and paste from. On a related note - I scaled up your akira heavy escort from an SV to CV. Doesn't scale well...

Hm, can "cheat" in SP by use setposition for those buried wrecks. And setrotation to angle them horizontal (0 x 0).
@Spanj6 жыл бұрын
loL, cheeky!
@drayton3596 жыл бұрын
You can use setposition id y+5 and will raid the poi up 5 blocks instead of typing all the co-ords, works with x and z too and - as well
@Baleur6 жыл бұрын
Yeah sure but how fun is that? Defeats the purpose of playing the game :) But in SP, if you wanna cheat, go ahead, free choice :D
@StyxAnnihilator6 жыл бұрын
@Drayton359 Thx for the tip! @Baleur When you have dug out some buried vessels, several of each , it becomes boring. You know how to core and activate HUD view for good stuff. So no issue finding, just "forced" to dig over and over again - Or just take the easy parts and go. Mostly I do not take blocks, since some enemy POI's often have more than enough (easily HV multitooled). In SP you make your own purpose of such sandbox game, so whatever you do it is no real cheating. MP is another matter of course.
