ONI thought they were smart, that they were covert enough, that everything went off without a hitch. Only for a single grief stricken father to connect the dots, piece 74 other similar circumstances that happened to his daughter all together. Go on to survive the entire human-covenant war, survive against counter terrorist UNSC units, make a whole new family, and at long last, after nearly forty years of searching, meet his fully grown-up, super soldier of a daughter, and continues to survive to this day, knowing he accomplished what he set to do all those decades ago.

The story behind the Spartan program is such a very conflicting story. On one hand, you can't help but agree that had it not been for the Spartans, humanity would have been doomed. So many victories wouldn't have been achieved without them, and of course without Chief, life in the entire galaxy would have been extinguished, either by the flood or the covenant successfully firing the rings. On the other though, kidnapping Children and robbing them of their childhood and putting them through excruciating experiments, as well as making their parents believe that their Child just suddenly died from an unexpected illness when really they are alive is just outright inhumane and disgusting. Such a sad story.

his daughter was kidnapped. experimented on. and indoctrinated to fight and die for the UNSC, she even said she was willing to kill her father who was doing this for her. after spending 30+ years looking for her, surviving the covenant war and becoming the very terrorist she was created to fight, she's completely indoctrinated into believing the same lies ONI and the UNSC told the public to cover up why the Spartans II's were made. and after BEGGING her to come live with him and meet her half siblings she told him she was HAPPY where she was, she was HAPPY to fight, kill. and die for the people who stole her away from her family. lied to her about her parents giving her up, turned her into a killing machine at the age of 6. her and the other Spartans saving humanity from the covenant doesn't excuse or absolve ONI and UNSC of the inhuman acts they did to these kids and their families. the Spartan II's were created to fight insurrectionists,

In times of war, it's often justifiable. In case of Spartan II, as cruel it sounds, it was justified. Because Spartan II-s saved so many countless, and turned the war on mankind. Spartan III was more humane, I think. My problem and hate is, that war never really ends, the Oni and their doing, never really ends. The cruelty and lies, secrets, keep on going. Not that I'm entirelly okay with how these soldiers were "sacrificied". Same with reality, wh40k, star wars, etc.. Sometimes I do understand it. But what happens today, in the richest of mankind, in the longest peace time in history. How is our doing justifiable? It's not.

A year late, and yes, you could argue that, though let's be clear, Halsey is by no means a good, kindhearted person. More often than not, she excuses her actions by arguing from their consequences, and well, the whole thing with "my spartans" and "my children" is just disgusting, since she tries to replace their parents and does a misguided attempt at making up for her failure at being Miranda's mother after she abandoned her.

imagine spending over 30 years trying to find your daughter only to find THIS. to try to explain to her that everything ONI and the UNSC told her was a lie but for her to still choose to serve them, imagine how crushing it would be to find what your daughter had been turned into, i cannot imagine the emptiness he had to have felt realising that in the end his daughter who he had done all this for would have killed him if she was told to. the UNSC and ONI are nothing but pure evil.

Honestly this story really puts the perspective and makes clear how sad some stories were and how much all of the spartan 2's that still survive deserve to know if their parents are alive and getting the chance to accually meet them and have both sides either have the chance to meet them every once in a while for therapy reasons and to help spartans grow again make them great soldier but at the least let them become what they started life as, great humans. And yes both sides might never heal fully but deserving to know the truth and allowing to see them.

The SPARTAN II program was the most unjustifiable one the second being the 3rd program, but only was it highly illegal, it no regard was shown towards the rights (or lives) of the children or their parent’s. To make matters worse it wasn’t even made to counter the Covenant it was made to fight the Insurrection. A much better idea would be to create advanced armor for you average troops like in AW with the Exoskeletons, the UNSC is so dysfunctional.

The end of this sad tale was even more tragic when this long lived Spartan re-awoken memories was displayed to her. She was disgusted with all of what happend and even more so on what her father faced from the world, oni and there family. But as a soldier she burried her feelings and continued on doing her duty.
