The issue I have with season 7 is that Daenerys could very easily have taken Kings Landing the minute she landed on Dragonstone without even using her dragons, which for some reason was the only reason they didn't attack the capital in the first place! We saw Olenna and Ellaria on Dragonstone, why didn't they have their armies lay seige to Kings Landing while they travelled to meet Daenerys? How is Euron able to come and go from Kings Landing as he pleases? How can the Iron Bank treat with Cersei when Dragonstone lies at the mouth of the Blackwater? Daenerys could easily block all access to the capital! There are far too many plotholes! It's so frustrating!!!

And all her conflict with Sansa later doesn't come across as fake, either. It's not like we see LF spying on them arguing, which would still be clumsy. In regard to LF. Since they changed his character from the books, he has no story purpose. The Vale is there for Sansa, so he doesn't need to be in Winterfell. This is the writers forcibly forcing a conflict. In the books, It is most likely that the downfall of LF will come when Sansa finds out how he sold Jeyne. I still want to know how Tyrion made it there that fast without a dragon 🤔 Also, a lot of people had mixed feelings about what Danny did to the Tarlys, but think about it if it was any other Lord, everyone knows going against your word makes you look weak. Danny doesn’t know Sam, and if she did, she probably would’ve reconsidered burning his brother but the fact of the matter is she gave them a choice, and that was the right choice she made. Anyone else without Dragons would have beheaded them, especially if they “refused” to take the black 😒

"A villain is a hero of the other side, as someone said once, and I think there’s a great deal of truth to that, and that’s the interesting thing. In the case of war, that kind of situation, so I think some of that is definitely what I’m aiming at." -George RR Martin The underlying message in the story is that people aren't all good or all bad. No one is. Cersei isn't all bad and Dany isn't all good. We take sides, because that is what people do in war. In reality our good guys commit atrocities equal to and sometimes greater than our bad guys. We make excuses for characters we like while hating on characters we don't like for doing the same things. We are all willing to do horrible things to meet our goals/dreams/desires or protect what/who we believe needs to be protected. Cersei is an up front miserable bitch from episode 1, so we hate her. Even though everything she does is to protect her family (her kids) and when they are gone, herself and her unborn baby. She already had power, she had no ambition for more. Dany is a victim of her brother and his choices from episode 1, so we sympathize with her. Even though everything she does is to accumulate personal power under the guise of liberation, because she feels entitled to a throne she's never even seen. Both of these character exact cruel vengeance on their enemies, Dany is justified but Cersei is not? I'm using Dany and Cersei as an example but there are many others. George likes to write characters that mirror each other. Jaime/Theon is another pair that is interesting. These mirror characters go through similar things but react differently. We invalidate the journey of the character we don't like while celebrating the journey of the character we do like. One last little observation: We fell in love with the story because it defied every expectation we had. However, the last few seasons when characters developed and events happened that we didn't agree with we call it bad storytelling or bad writing. However, I always go back to the best quote in the show: "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention." - Ramsay Bolton
@chrisbrooker7260 Жыл бұрын
This is where the writing does genuinely start to impact the quality, which is unfortunate, although it’s still highly watchable and mostly brilliantly filmed and costumed/designed. In defence of D & D it was probably inevitable this quality crash would happen. For those who rave on about the books, in reality after the first 3 the quality goes seriously south, which indicates to me that GRRM had lost control of the series and his subsequent failure to progress indicates that he also has no clear idea how to tie it together and reach the end point (which is, I suspect the endpoints the TV series reached by and large). Add in ever growing fan bs and the TV series was always going to be a train wreck at some point. Anyway by this point it’s pointless to refer to the books so you just need to judge the series on its own merits. The best characters by now are those still exhibiting some growth and sense of an arc, and not caricatures of themselves - Sansa, Sam, Jamie, maybe a couple of others
