This is my fave video so far :). 1. When you do seratus peratus BM videos w/ subtitles, I learn the most. 2. Your topic was self-introductory, and any orang asing mcm saya will need to introduce themselves to locals eventually. So there are many extremely useful phrases in this video. 3. On a personal note, I too have felt insecure about my own mother tongue after returning from my studies in the West. The development of my capability to speak Filipino was halted at a level good enough for home use, but not good enough to find a job, explain the complex, and truly make friends without feeling a bit foreign. Ok time to go use these new words and phrases on the street. Semoga kamu akan buat banyak lagi video mcm ni :).

Pada pendapat saya, belajar Bahasa Melayu menggunakan bahasa pasar atau harian adalah cara yang paling cepat untuk belajar Bahasa Melayu, saya baru terfikir! Wow, this was really the most amazing video! I actually had a bit of a bad day today at work and so I was so happy when I saw that you posted a new video and decided to immediately watch this when I came home. I was even more happy when I saw that I actually understood quite a significant amount of what you said without looking at the English subtitles, although this was actually the first time I listened to someone speak in Malay more than just a few words. So I feel really proud now and you definitely made my day :-) And yes, please keep this up, it's definitely extremely helpful, especially with the Malay and English subtitles below. I will rewatch this video a few times to analyse the sentences and speaking style and familiarise myself more with it. I think this is a really helpful way of learning, and I guess for you maybe also less preparation work. So, hope to watch more videos from you speaking Malay :-) And, by the way, I can totally understand what you mean. I just returned to Germany some months ago after having lived and worked in China for 5 years where I basically only used Chinese and English, and getting back to German was really quite difficult (I still find myself mixing in English and Chinese words now and then ...). Also had the same experience before, when I returned from Japan, where I spent a year in high-school in a Japanese language environment. But the good news is: it will get better :-)

Hi Markus, I'm sorry you had a bad day at work. I hope things are better for you now. And even after a bad day, you can still leave such a nice comment for me :D It still amazes me that my simple videos can cheer someone up, so in the end, you cheered me up! Your Malay proficiency must be quite advanced for you to be able to understand a lot of things I said. I really wasn't holding back at all, I was just talking like I usually would with other Malay people! I think I will make videos like this in the future from time to time just mix things up a bit. Thank you for the encouragement!

Ah yes I cringed so much when I was editing this video. I used 'jadi' too much as a crutch in replacement of the English 'so' (which I also over use). I have to be more aware of this word in the future when I speak in Malay.

I ask a bit personal question but it will make clear how your brain actually works. What language do you dream in at night? I can also suggest you the Stroop test (based on the Stroop effect). It was used by American intelligence agencies during the Cold war in order to distinguish a spy. It is interesting for those, who likes exploring correlation between a brain and a language.

Hmmmmmmmm I'm really not sure, I think mixed? Or... Like you know how sometimes in dreams you just assume some form of communication already took place even though you didn't really say anything in the dream? And usually the dreams that I remember are very action-based with not much opportunity to talk (maybe coz they're more exciting), like I infiltrate an alien spaceship or I shoot people with popcorn machine gun or I fly on a hovercraft to assassinate a triad leader in space who happens to be a sumo warrior. Wow, too much science fiction for me. Since I cannot recall which language I use, maybe it's possible that the kind of thinking I do in my dreams is more visual and doesn't really use words? Stroop test sounds intriguing! I did a quick Google search and I can see lots of explanation about the effects. I'll try and find one about a test and do it :D What language do you dream in?

@@sierralisse8897 , I dream in my native language, it is Russian. However, very rarely if I have a dream about my job then I communicate with people in Estonian as use this language to talk to my colleagues in real life.

Have you ever thinking something big ? to change the atmosphere between dfferent races ni Malaysia ... cooporate with different races people that good at their own mother tongue , and not teaching only Malay to other , also teaching counterpart languages to Malay . think about this , isn't it meaningful for you for our country ...
