Nothing's wrong with using bingung in daily conversation. I use bingung/keliru sometimes. Pening means differently from bingung. When somebody says *pening* to someone it's not because he/she feels *bingung* but he/she has so many things to think about and he/she asks the person not to add more troubles to his current ones, for example: "Jangan kasi *pening* aku, boleh tak?!". In another case, when someone feels *bingung* it can cause *pening* and that's why he/she says *pening* to express his/her *state of mind physically* , for example: "Heyhh, *pening* kepala aku!"

hi Sierra . how long do you think for an English speaker to learn Malay . I teach Tamil and i am looking forward to learn Malay. I have subscribed yours and eager to watch more videos. Thank you
@sierralisse88975 жыл бұрын
Hello thank you for watching and subscribing! I honestly cannot answer this question because it depends on each individual person and the level of interest. The more interested you are, the more you will notice the nuances of the language. For some, 1 month is enough to sound like a local. For some 5 years is not enough!

Just came across this video, find it too challenging, and decided to start with lesson 1. It is often a good idea to start with earlier lessons. Halfway into the lesson I wanted some notes, clicked the link and noticed that they were gone. Hope you can fix those notes before producing new lessons.

I love your lessons. May I ask if it is a problem for Malaysian Muslim women who do not wear a headscarf? I find it interesting to watch interactions you have with Muslim women who cover their heads, etc. Do Malay women who are raised in Muslim homes but chose to not wear headscarfs encounter problems or not? I have always enjoyed learning about different societies and how they change. Thank you for everything you do. I have learned much and plan to visit Malaysia in the future. 🙂

Hello Sharon! Thank you so much for watching my videos and commenting :D And haha, headscarf! Many angry debates have been sparked over this whole _tudung_ (that's what Malay people call the head covering in Malay) issue. To answer your question, the simple answer is yes, it is a problem. Majority of Malay Muslims believe it is compulsory to don the hijab as a sign of devotion to God. I have experienced my fair share of rather outspoken people who think they have a say over what I do with my life. However most people are very nice to me about it, especially because I live in the city and attitudes towards people like me are more open. And Malay people themselves are not aggressive people; if they dislike something they usually keep quiet. On the whole, my experience is 99% positive, from both men and women. The girls who wear hijab never treat me any differently, even in the more rural areas. In fact, many of the people I know who do wear the _tudung_ respect individual choices and do not impose their version of belief on me. And I respect their choice to wear _tudung_ . Honestly, some days these differences are invisible to me. I just literally forget! I'm happy you gained a lot from my channel. I hope you do come to Malaysia soon!

Hi Lisa.. Thank you very much for your wonderful videos.. I am a "pretty Intermediate" learner of bahasa Indonesia... Now if I wanna learn Malay,what would be your suggestion to learn both the languages side by side..?? Coz I found the languages are very similar..
@dastanharris5 жыл бұрын
as a native malay speaker, i'd suggest against it.. there are many similar word with different meaning, pronunciation, also indonesian is more singsong compare to malay, you going to get confused easily.

@@asifanowar423 If i watch indonesian program (jakarta), i can probably pick up 60-80% of what is said, sometimes i have to guess the meaning of the whole sentense based on words i already know. its better for you to get to the advanced level in indonesian, before you move to malay. otherwise its like learning dutch and german simultaneously. just my 2 cents.
