Great video! As a Krav Maga practitioner, I like Omer's approach to training. Krav Maga tends to attract a _lot_ of keyboard and armchair warriors saying "this or that won't work in real life" due to flashy choreographed demos being very prevalent on KZbin. However, Omer is using grounded and more realistic scenarios to teach the principles and mindset behind the techniques which goes hand in hand with the movements. Arguably, the mindset could be considered to be the more powerful attribute to have. _Nothing_ that Krav Maga or any martial art teaches will ever work out perfectly in real life conflict because as shown in the video and _especially_ the pressure test (which is _always_ a good thing to have in your classes), things in real life are much more chaotic, even morseo if you're already exhausted. However, the idea of training a technique perfectly in class is to give yourself the best chance you can. So, if the chances to flee, talk your way out of it or deescalate the situation have gone and your absolute last option is to do _something,_ knowing even a little of a martial art or self defence technique might just be what saves your life, wouldn't you think? The basic principle behind any technique for defence in Krav Maga whether it be from punches, kicks, knives, bats or guns is: "Don't get punched. Don't get kicked. Don't get stabbed" etc. If I have absolutely no other choice but to do _something_ or anything to save my life, I'd take even a 1% chance of success if it's the difference between me going home or me going to the morgue. That's the mindset Omer is trying to instill behind the techniques, and is what more Krav and self defence channels and videos should promote more than showing off. That's the difference between someone who knows what they're talking about, and Bullshido.

As someone who is employed in the Critical Disaster Response occupation I couldn't agree more and you worded this perfectly. A lot of people think individuals in my occupation only face such inherent threats overseas sadly the truth is we face them in first world country's as much as we do in second and third world AO's. Even with my Marine Corp Background in the 0326 MOS (FORECON) via MAGTF I was advised to augment my H2H capabilities with KM and it has served me well in my occupational safety.

Just a small detail, but Cam's situational awareness suprised me when he tossed the knife and attacked the hand when the instructor tried reaching for it again. I think some would be so fixated on attacking the person that they'd lose track of the weapon, especially in the heat of the moment

My friend does similar style of self defense and the best tip is to actually practice. A lot of people watch a YT tutorial on this and think "Oh wow I can do that now" but in reality this instructor was actually being nice even when he played a more aggressive part. Demonstration does not = Real world. Train, get hit hard in real life, learn to stay calm in a stressful situation and find a good instructor like Omer Duchovny.

In my area, there are 2 krav gyms. One is "fitness oriented" and doesn't really teach actual krav. The owner of the other gym won't teach girls because we are "fragile". Which, I mean fair play because it's your gym and you can do what you want, but it also massively sucks because if my stalker ex-coworker breaks his restraining order, he's not gonna care if I'm fragile

My take-away from the exhaustion drills, is that people need to train to the point that the reactions/tactics become instinctual muscle memory. When exhausted and under stress, the guys seemed to forget most of that they learned. I'm positive that after much more practice, their reaction would greatly improve without having to think much about it. Nice set of videos! 🍻

Good video Cam and Izzy, this video actually seems pretty useful and relevant. One thing I should point out that's probably covered in the actual class is you only want to attack your attacker if you believe or have a feeling that your attacker is going to shoot you or even worse a family member and/or friend and counter-attacking is the only solution to deescalating the situation. I also like how the part where the disarming was open ended to show that most fights quickly devolve and a lot of the time, they end up as a struggle on the ground.

I had practiced krav maga for a while a couple years ago. Normally, for a regular guy, the chance of getting attacked by a pistol or something is %0.1 maybe. Nearly all pistol defences in krav maga assume that your opponent gets close to you and waits you for finishing your move like a doll. Krav maga is a huge confidence booster not gonna lie but on streets, 99 out of 100 krav maga practitioners will be killed while trying these moves. Practicing those moves is a good hobby but best self defence on streets is carrying your own gun or knife.

All this firearms training is reminding me of a “relatively” old third-person shooter I used to play. Don’t remember the name but… In the game, the spec ops units were really tough because they were so hard to shoot, especially because whenever you pointed your gun at them they immediately changed their position and returned fire. In spite of their heavy armor, this kind of technique made them very hard to kill. 😓 I was reminded of this by all the control techniques I saw in this video; avoiding line of fire, coordinating your position, weapon control, krav maga does have some interesting techniques to avoid getting shot (Role-playing! 😅) and it makes me wonder what similar techniques are out there for “dodging bullets” in real time. Anybody know how do get in touch with Keanu Reeves?! 😆

If someone points a pistol at you head you grab the muzzle and pull it to your head, they will never expect that. If someone points a gun at you, you kick them in the balls because when a gun is pulled on you, you have to make moves as if you're already dead. "Strike First, Strike Deadly" - Cobra Kai
@JDog88 Жыл бұрын
If a guy's pointing a gun at me I'd think he can pull the trigger faster than I could lift my leg to kick him in the balls. Even if I could kick faster there's a chance I hit him in the leg or miss entirely because I'd be absolutely _shitting my pants_ from the start before I think of anything else. And then again if I _did_ manage to kick him in the jewels he could clench his hand and pull the trigger involuntarily and I still get unwanted extra breathing holes. A knife or gun threat is just that: a threat. If he wanted to shoot or stab you he'd have done it already. Most likely he wants you yourself or something you have on you: car keys, wallet, phone, expensive watch, etc. These things are all replaceable, you aren't. Just give the guy what he asks for if it means you get to live. Krav Maga and any other martial art techniques are for when you have _absolutely no other options left_ to exhaust in a situation, where even messing it up could be the difference between you going home or going to the morgue. A 1% chance is still a chance.

There's info that could still be useful to someone else :)

NO NO NO! You headbutt the barrel, that way the force of you hitting the gun in a way they don’t expect makes them not shoot you and potentially knocks the gun from their hand 😈💀

The best defence in a situation where a firearm is pointed at you (Especially to the head) is not getting into such situation or collaborating until it's over unless the guy's primary intent is to shoot you. If you engage, a small mistake can cost your life.

I wonder if they'll react to other SF training routines around the world. There are some really interesting ones out there. One that struck me as particularly intense was the training for the Scout Rangers of the Philippines, as from what I've gathered, before they can graduate, they actually have to do live combat. I know for a fact that Cam will be excited seeing their training routine, as they are Rangers after all.

When you think about it it's so weird, and a big mistake, how people get close with a gun. Why get in range? You have a distance weapon, don't get 2 feet in front the person you attack. It's weird but it seems to be mostly the case. Allowing defenses.
