If the only reason for someone not to go on a killing spree is the fear of hell, then that person has no morals. Someone who has morals just doesn't want to do that in the first place.

So there is a lady that studies ants in South America somewhere and these colonies are huge. 4 or 5 million ants and thousands of species. We know nearly nothing about most of them. She has been tracking them to see what they do etc and made a stunning discovery. Within this colony about 5-10%of the ants are thieves. It's their job to go raid other colonies and steal food, that's all those ones do. apparently they smell just enough like the targeted colony and their own to be able to sneak in. usually anyways. however, they behave in a very interesting way, if they have stolen food they are likely to freeze if around other ants. they movethe a sneaky way like they know stealing is bad. Sometimes they get caught, and if they do they simply drop the food. ask the other ants fight to keep food they got "honestly". When caught stealing, they give up, drop the loot and don't struggle as they are carried away from the colony by soldier ants. They are then released, unharmed and go home. The next day they go to work as usual. She called the behavior sneaky, and they act guilty. The soldiers showed mercy, and had seen the same soldiers kill if faced with resistance or aggression. They are making moral decisions , give up I'll let you live. fight me and you die. It's not known how many kinds of ants do this sort of thing, this was only one colony that she observed. there were no signs of religion or prayer seen. hmmmmm... www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/thieving-ants-act-guilty-after-their-heists

Perhaps the ants prayed "in their closets" and did not pray in the marketplace, because then they would already have their reward?
@lnsflare1
@lnsflare1 6 жыл бұрын
Arguably, the ants didn't fight because that would have just invited the other side to fight back, which could result in otherwise avoidable injuries and deaths when just giving up the stolen food/letting the thief go after they gave up the stolen food is a no harm-no foul situation for both sides, in that moment rather than any sort of particular moral framework. If the defending ants were able to think ahead, they may have been willing to use their local numbers advantage to try and use more lethal force to prevent more or their food from being successfully stolen at a later date, but ants aren't generally known for their long term legal or economic policies.

Theism: This is immoral because the Bible/Quran says so. Atheism: This is immoral because it's hurting the well-being of others. One of them welcomes you to question their reasoning and are willing to broaden their views and expand them if you present valid arguments, whereas the other calls you a blasphemer if you dare question it their appeal to an invisible, unproven authority. You guess which one is which.

Although I do not agree with your conclusion about the existence of a supreme invisible being whom started the universe, I appreciate that you do not have the agenda to force your beliefs and practices on others and probably hold yourself responsible for your own evil and good acts ;b
@Treytheredrebel
@Treytheredrebel 10 жыл бұрын
CabbageFoot16 Recently became (or realized that I always was) a deist. I wouldn't say I believe in some supreme invisible being, but some non-linear beginning. I don't think traditional science will ever be able to determine a natural beginning. We may be able to determine what happened after the beginning, because now there is something, or what was before, because there must have been nothing at some point, but the process in between is out of our reach in a sense. I'm inclined to believe there was a creator, whether that be an initiator of some kind or a loop such as the infinite universe theory. Life on earth's beginning is easy enough to determine, but the idea of the universe coming into existence makes me want to do hard drugs and trip balls.
@CabbageFoot16
@CabbageFoot16 10 жыл бұрын
Treytheredrebel Many people have in the past and will continue to underestimate scientific progress, and the god of the gaps gets continually pushed back. I respect your view. It has has a sliver of a chance of being right. But because your god is not a personal god that dictates how we need to live our lives or else eternal punishment then the question of whether he exists or not is pointless given that there is zero evidence for his existence. I would rather focus on useful theories and validate or discredit them. I have absolutely no problem with the feeling that a deistic god might exist as long as you don't try to dictate how other people behave based off this idea. Sometimes I think that I can fly if I will myself to do it, but never enough to live test it by jumping off a building.

any belief which accepts humans are not the center of attention of a god and that this god does not interrupt the natural order (miracles) is hardy irrational - it seems the more absurd something religious is, the more its followers try and force it down our throats - insecurity much?
@xxXthekevXxx

I'm more interested to know which side of the war collected stamps, and which one didn't. Knowing that will give me a clear insight into the moral character of people who do and don't collect stamps, and I can then use that knowledge to win every single argument with stamp collectors. Also, which side of the war had the more moustaches? Which side had longer hair? That would tell us a lot. Which side spoke mainly English? Hmmm!! The axis were mainly non-English speakers! @@hgbitner8486 this is what the bible states as moral though.as seen here Leviticus 25:45-46 45: You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be your property. 46: You may bequeath them to your sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly. it states that its ok to beat and rule over them just not the slaves from your own country. anyway, thanks for the response i hop to here back!

Are there ever going to be more of your outstanding videos? Or do you have another channel with more of this kind of content? Your satire, sarcasm and sense of irony are so deeply enmeshed that I pick up something new each time I watch them again. The fact that most of what you've produced is directly from the scriptures is excellently clever & unassailable. Thank you! and I am hoping for more from you, some day, maybe?

lmao... yeah, people have a hard time believing that I, an ex-Christian, stopped believing in "God" all on my own through research, maturity and an open mind. They think I must have gotten mad at God and that's what it's all about.

Seven known Assyrian inscriptions refer to the region of "Palashtu" or "Pilistu", beginning with Adad-nirari III in the Nimrud Slab in c. 800 BCE through to a treaty made by Esarhaddon more than a century later. The term Palestine first appeared in the 5th century BCE when the ancient Greek historian Herodotus wrote of a "district of Syria, called Palaistinê" between Phoenicia and Egypt in The Histories. Approximately a century later, Aristotle used a similar definition for the region in Meteorology, in which he included the Dead Sea.[14] Later Greek writers such as Polemon and Pausanias also used the term to refer to the same region, which was followed by Roman writers such as Ovid, Tibullus, Pomponius Mela, Pliny the Elder, Dio Chrysostom, Statius, Plutarch as well as Romano-Jewish writers Philo of Alexandria and Josephus. Syria Palaestina was a Roman district from 136 to 390 CE and Palaestina Secunda was a province of the Byzantine Empire from 390 to 634-636 CE.

Actually not. The characters have surnames, but I couldn't find a way to work them in, as it would have given the game away in Special Investigation 1. Their names are Kent Aneurism and Ray Bollocks. You're the first to know. And if I never find a way to work it into subsequent episodes, iif there are any, you may be the last to know too!

I think these are by a great margin the best videos of this variety. I am not fond of the most common incarnation that has a combatative approach. In partial defense of evangelical zealots a bit too much upon ones own back pattification. Partial because cherry pick sampling. This has such great levity. Outside of subject matter it really has a terrific quality of pace, timing, punctuation in the dialog. I could probably chuckle an any news satire with banter that good.

This brings all the memories of all my debates online with theists rushing back. It's funny stuff, but it is sobering to think of how widespread the mentality we see parodied here really is. People are so convinced that they need religion, the have even convinced themselves that it is the only thing holding their lives together. As if everything will fall down if they just stop believeing.
