Why do you think Sunflower is the main theme of Spider Verse? A sunflower is a plant that can live through severe hardship like tornados, hurricanes, etc. No matter how much assault the sunflower plant gets, it's still up right and strong and continues to flourish. That sunflower is more than just the quote: No matter how many times Spidey gets hit, he always finds a way to always come back up. That quote is more than that. The quote specifically implies that no matter how much abuse to how life puts you down and make you miserable, you always don't let it get to ya and you always manage to make it through the day. I know what that is like because believe me when I tell ya: I couldn't catch a break. Spider-man is the hero that most identifies me and he can identify all of you; which is why anyone can be the mask, anyone can wear the mask. I am Spider-Man and so are YOU! It's honestly a crime that well thought out stories with plans throughout are cancelled, while other projects that are improvising and sacrificing quality for spectacle are always green lit. The MCU is one of the only examples of a plan across all the movies not being cancelled, and that is probably because it's a big movie studio with famous actors

@@vincenzocapasso9990 I wasn’t really critiquing the MCU (I love those movies). Just pointing out that it may have never had the chance to create its own universe (now verging on multiverse) with the creative freedom it’s had over the years. The only restrictions they’ve had is with characters they don’t legally have the rights to. But they still managed to make it work. But (partially) thanks to the big scale and production value, that storytelling has a much better chance at making consistent money than a tv show. Another example of creativity being restricted is with _Star Wars the Clone Wars_ and _Star Wars Rebels._ _Clone Wars_ had complete creative freedom, allowing the stories to branch out to different characters, different themes, and getting very dark and realistic. _Rebels_ has the exact same writing team, but Disney put restrictions on what they could write, making it a bit more kid friendly, as well as bringing down the quality a bit. I still enjoyed _Rebels,_ but there was clearly some potential for it to be better that was stomped out by the studio. The overall point is that depending on the studio, and the type of media it is, a story can either become as big as the MCU, or get cancelled because of the amount of money being brought in.

Spectacular SpiderMan is the main reason I love MCU SpiderMan. They deliver similar messages through different mediums. We can argue on which did it better, but that it just subjective. Overall they both show that Peters actions have consequences on either side of his spectrum: the hero, or the high schooler. In the MCU, Peter ditched the homecoming dance and Liz to stop Vulture, and in Spectacular, fighting Lizard ultimately resulted in him losing his internship. In these cases it is showed that good choices won't always work out for personal gain, but both Peters did it anyway.
@gingercat59963 жыл бұрын
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry but mcu Spider-Man is NOTHING like spectacular Spider-Man. There’s a video on KZbin that explains why. But basically consequences and uncle Ben are the main reasons and unlike spectacular, mcu Spidey doesn’t seem to have either. Also, yes, peter has choices in the mcu (choosing to leave liz and the decathlon team) but never faces any real consequences. Liz just says a few words then leaves. MCU is a poor excuse of a spider-man. Bottom line: Spectacular did the character better. One thing that doesn’t make sense, Fury having to convince Peter to join in the fight. Peter should not need convincing. The character that is Spider-Man doesn’t want to be Spider-Man but does it anyway because of responsibility. He doesn’t stand there and do nothing because the last time he did that his uncle died. If he does it again, it will be someone else. Back in Homecoming he ditched Liz just to stop the Vulture; that is being Spider-Man; he let to to handle a responsibility. That movie seemed to characterize Peter that way so shouldn’t that mean that Peter will always do that like when talking to Fury? Peter should get into the fight because he knows he has the responsibility and would do it regardless; he shouldn’t need convincing and considering that what they established of what he would do ditching Liz to do the right thing but doesn’t do the same thing in Far From Home, that’s a red flag right there. Disney’s handle of the character Spider-Man is purely the worst; it’s fucking terrible. You think that this example I gave you doesn't prove you wrong about MCU Spidey's conflicted morals?

Yeah Raimi was the best, spectacular is overrated and their fans are kinda toxic (like the guy above me) but honestly I prefer the 90's cartoon. It's the most comic accurate thought I wish it were more violent haha. Raimis spiderman is great because he's one of the only adaptations to feel like the older comics before they stoped writing peter as a dork, and the movie story wise are just better than anything that came after it, making the successors look inferior by comparison.

With the apparent partnership between Sony and Marvel, I can hope that they have the sense to resurrect Spectacular Spider-Man on Disney+ or something. If he can do it, I'm perfectly okay with Weisman splitting time between the also excellent Young Justice and Spectacular Spider-Man.

Phenomenal analysis on a truly perfect show. I'm watching it right now and it's every bit as perfect as when I first watched it. I would love to see an analysis on The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Avengers Assemble. Hell, even The Ultimate Spider-Man.

Have a soft spot for the 90’s animated series, the theme song is much better in that one and it did have a lot of storylines from the Romita years inervoven quite well, but this is Ditko’s Spidey in it’s essence. A very good adaption. Too bad it just got cancelled, yet again Disney f*cking it up.

9:45 to be honest, Im sorta glad they decided to end it on a cliffhanger/with things still open ended. recently, I have seen a multitude of shows that where forced to end early/cancelled prematurely and their response is to rush the story and ending they had in mind, and to be honest I feel it actually worsens the view of the show overall (it's like you take your time crafting the begining and middle of an essay but then just go and finish it in 2 sentences, it makes things feel wrong when you view it by itself). I really feel if you have a thought out plan for a show but you get cancelled before you can complete it then it's better to leave it where it's at because that way, if fortunes in your favor, your show may get revived/brought back and can continue it they way you intended (like samurai jack)

To this day, I can't watch Season 2...not because it wasn't good but because it was *excellent* and ended on a cliffhanger only to find out it wasn't coming back. Hearing the showrunners' plans for Season 3 and beyond was almost painful. If they had been allowed to finish their vision, I'm convinced that TSS would have rivaled Batman the Animated Series as the best superhero cartoon ever.

I think you were the first person to articulate the gut feeling I have with the end of Spectacular Spider Man. I mean, season 2 really has the best episodes but season 1 had an overarching story that payed off in episode 13 in every way possible: from the gene cleanser and Venom stuff plus Tombstone and Aunt May money problem. Season 2 lack that sort of... Focus. And tying the Green Goblin subplot in ep 26 felt rushed along with the other loose ends like Peter and Gwen. I mean Norman LITERALLY had to spill the entire Green Goblin subplot and tie all loose ends in less than three minutes in the last episode with expository dialogue as well as his motivations to become the bad guy. Its trully a kick in the nuts. However this is a mistake that came imo from its early cancelation and Weisman's difficulty (at least imo) to give closure to things. YJ has this problem too. Nothing really ends. This is good for a running show but sometime you just gotta close the door and for whatever reason he couldn't do so in Spectacular. Yost and Greg Johnson were more successful at that in EMH and Wolverine and the X-men imo in spite of the leftovers, the main plot of the seasons were fully resolved never to be brought up again even in unlikely sequels (both the Kree interest on Earth in Avengers and the Sentinel dystopian future in X-men).

Love the attention SSP gets since it’s run ended. But I do question SHOULD the show come back? Shows that come back as either continuations or sequels suffer the finishing quality problem. Ex: the Batman TAS had the New Batman Adventures which was overall a downgrade both in story and animation. Avatar the last air bender had Korra which failed to live up to Avatar’s legacy mostly because Michael and Bryan didn’t have the same writers as before. Not that these shows are bad, they aren’t, they just don’t live up to the same quality. In this case, I’ll focus on Greg Weissman. I respect and admire the man but he has made blunders more so in recent years. The Post-young justice season 1 years, Warcraft novel (that is shockingly bad), and Star Wars rebels. I worry that will Greg and his team produce the same quality as SSP did if they ever got the green light? Recently, I doubt it

I will always love seeing Spider-Man fight the Green Goblin because he is his true archnemesis and I can't wait to see the MCU introduce him so that we can have this rivalry done correctly, the Raimi version was great but it didn't really feel like an archnemesis relationship and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made the mistake of skipping Norman Osborn entirely and using Harry when we hadn't been given the chance to develop before becoming the Goblin. What I would have done is keep Osborn alive, get rid of the Goblin story from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and make him the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 3
