Yes. Even more amazing was that this was the first movie directed by Jan de Bont (who previously was the cinematographer for the original "Die Hard") and Keanu Reeve's first lead action role. This movie was fresh and original and I loved all the vehicle stunt work. The decision by Keanu's character to destroy the front door of the car he is driving so that he can jump onto the bus is so original and why I love the movies - you can't do this or even see this in real life but it sure is fun seeing it on screen!

I have a theory. Harry Temple was a police officer who was smart and brave, but was sent to Howard pain's house to see if he was there and was thrown into a trap where the house blew up killing all the officers in the house, but what the movie did not show is that that Harry was the only one who survive not without injuries though. He seemed to to have suffered from permanent memory lose and because of the shock wave of the explosion caused him to lose his intelligence as well. While he is in the hostpial a new patient is put in his room and become roommates. The new patient turns out to be non other than Lloyd Christmas who would later become Harry's best friend who is as dumb as he is. They now Reside in Providence, Rhode Island where Harry lives now as Harry Dunne. Harry has not gained his memory back

The second could have been good if they made a better plot. The idea of a cruise boat never struck me as fast or speedy yet they still went with it. For some reason God knows why they lowered the intelligence of Sandra bullock's character. Jason Patrick failed to properly replace Keanu reeves. Acting was piss poor. For me the only good thing about speed 2 was Willem Defoe because it he was entertaining. Movies like the matrix and movies that have interesting characters and potential successful universes have a better reason to have sequels, but the bus blew up in speed, pain lost his head. The only way they can have a third movies is if they bring back Keanu reeves and maybe have a plot that connects to the first movie and mostly ignores the second movie. At the same time though it is fun to watch this movie and make fun of it

Actually, any time a car in a film or TV show crashes into something soft like plastic water barrels or a stack of cardboard boxes, that means that the car used is rented and has to be returned to the rental company. But it is still funny to watch though. Source: Film Review magazine.
