Honestly, edge highlights are too emphasized in GW's box art and painting tutorials. The regular ol' highlights you're showing how to do here are so much more useful to a novice/intermediate/impatient painter. Really enjoyed the whole series, though I would have liked to see all the models together now that they're painted. Cheers

edge highlighting is chosen as their method as it's the easiest way to get an excellent result. The only skill is neatness which anyone can do with time. It's just a slow and painful way to paint.

Apart from Mike McVey and a handful of others I was never keen on the GW standard paint job and guide examples. I found the oh so edgy, edge highlighted marines just scuffed and faded. The new painting practices I'm discovering now are so much better than years prior: see also Dana Howl.

Honestly, thank you for these videos. I brought BSF after so many years of being out of the hobby and before KZbin so was nervous i wouldn't do justice to the game with my paint tekkers. These videos make it so easy and quick too. (Plus there's something relaxing by just watching these)

Nice work Guy, you have a really good speed painting technique. A couple of times in the series I thought something wasn't looking right only for you to pull it out of the bag before the end. My god, that ended a lot quicker then I expected. I mean, I mean......the first Blackstone video was just yesterday, wasn’t it *sheds a few very manly tears* Joking aside, thank you for these videos. Your way of painting is giving me further self assurance in a not perfect, but finished way of painting. I got only one questions: What are the brushes you are using? I recognize the look of them, some of mine look very similar, but none are as small as e.g. your detail brush.

I think maybe the pipe smoke could have used some dark, but painting smoke is damn hard. Looking forward to the next project :) I'll vote for skipping other starting kits and just go for a Warlord Titan :D
