Speed Twin: Sea Trial

In this video we take a look at the engine installation and the SMX instrumentation on the Speed Twin, then we head out for a Sea Trial. This repower was done by Seaboard Marine during the Winter 2020. We didn't capture a lot of footage of this project in progress because the boat is too big to trailer to our yard. The work was done in the harbor with the boat in the water. Enjoy!

What load % you hitting at full throttle/ limiter?

Realistically it better be dead on nuts 60 Hz and a genset better not need throttled per a tach to be 60 Hz powering "hotel load". Plus or minus 2 Hz is plus or minus more than 3% and that kind of error - which affects VOLTAGE as well as frequency is unacceptable from a genset. Governor "droop" should never exceed 1%. It 60-cycle EXACTLY. NOT "APPROXIMATELY" AND SINCE ALL AC "CLOCKS" RELY ON EXACTLY 60 HZ FREQUENCY FOR "ACCURACY" AND "PRECISION" THEY WILL - NOT "CAN" OR "MAY" - RUN "FAST" OR "SLOW" ACCORDINGLY. VARIOUS "NAVIGATION AIDS" DEPEND ON PRECISE "CLOCKS" AND "NAVIGATION ERROR" WILL MATCH CLOCK ERROR EXACTLY "BEST CASE SCENARIO".
