Another thing to consider with heavy wreckers is you aren't just paying for their active time, you are paying for them to be available 24/7. If you do 30 calls like this a month those 30 calls have to pay to have enough drivers, dispatch, and the millions worth of equipment, a lot with cameras, all available 24/7

The best way to avoid having to pay for recovery services is to slow down. People often don't understand the cost of having that much capital invested. Even looking at a well equipped plumbers truck you can see over $100K parked in front of your house that needs to be paid for by the hourly rate.

"You said $300" Reminds me of some of the clients I used to have. I used to be a photographer. One client wanted me to do an onsite photoshoot for an ad campaign. The boss thought my price was too high for just "snapping some pics". I told him that I would be bring $3000 worth of portable photography lights with me and that doesn't include the camera and my work. If it was just "snapping some pics" your secretary could do it with her smartphone. Same thing with you guys. Tell them how much the equipment you are sending costs...and that's not including the workers' pay, insurance, tires, oil changes, etc and fuel costs.

You can’t even buy a lemon for that. In this quote he clearly said “three maybe thirty five hundred.” Was he supposed to say “bucks?” The dude wasn’t listening because all he was focused on was he will lose his job so all he heard was “three.” Maybe the thought it would be 3500 cents.

Another great job done by Alex, Josh and Big Joe. Crazy the driver tried to claim that he was only quoted $300 to $400 bucks to upright that truck and trailer. What world is he living in. But he’s got a whole lot more problems. He totaled that tractor not to mention the container as well. And then what the damages are to the load. He will be lucky if he keeps his job. You got to love Alex’s professionalism especially when it comes to taking care of Big Joe. He always makes sure he takes care to do most of the rigging and then crawls under the damaged tractor to hook it up for towing all while his boss sits comfortably in the air conditioning of the truck. But that’s what should be happening because the boss pays all the bills and his salary. Great Job again Alex. Always polite and respectful of all those around him. Mahalo again for sharing another great video Josh. Love the break down in the end.

Simply put, the lowest I've ever paid was $350 for a tow 2.5 miles away from our yard when a ujoint let go and the truck was disabled. No load, driver cruised into the emergency lane. $350 and I was happy to pay it. I had other offers up to $800. I wouldn't give any quotes to drivers at all, period. "Have your boss call us Hoss." Great video, great work as always. I agree 100% on doing either pics or video for each job, just like dashcams it protects both the operator and the customer. I'm a Heavy Haul guy and I run a 4 axle Western Star 49x with a big Palfinger knuckleboom crane hauling Utility equipment and supplies, poles up to 85ft, heavy equipment, transformer, cable reels, if it can go on a flat, lowboy or landoll I'll do it. After years of lugging heavy chains and slings, we finally got with the program and started using synthetics, both straps/slings and synthetic chain, what a difference! As you guys know and always show, there's no excuse for taking short cuts in place of safety, take the extra time to over-rig and do the job right. Fortunately I've never had a drop or an incident of any kind, I guess being a bit anal about safety pays off, not to mention our friends from the DOT in the Northeast appreciate proper load securement. Stay safe and keep being a great example of how to do the job right.

As always Josh, Joe, Alex and crew, the videos, work and expertise you show is always fantastic. A billion years ago I used to work for Realco and worked in the SP yard for incoming truck trailers. I would be there at 12AM and work until I was done which was about 7AM or so and then go to a favorite bar to get breakfast. Around 10 AM I would head out to the SP yard out towards Santa Fe Springs. But. that was the yard where the Stack Pak containers would come in and I would go out and service those things. The Stack Pac containers had Cadillac cars shipped in them from the manufacturer and there was a special machine used to extract them. Sometimes I would find the front half of a car in there where the locking mechanism didn't unlock. It was a mess and not much I could do. Maybe Joe might remember the Piggy-Back yards. I was there 50 years ago! Stay safe all!!
