I know this is probably party joking but there's a few reasons. Cost, having an operator on standby for when these come in, liability, etc. Plus they just store dead and junk equipment lol all the cranes they have here are sold for cheap since they don't work or badly damaged.

I love seeing you use the load cells. I love your channel because you really work the projects methodically and safely. I've spent a lot of my engineering career designing special rigging and material handling attachments. It annoys me to no end watching guys cowboy their equipment and start breaking stuff. I'm pretty sure that sort of stuff has a negative impact on younger viewers, leading them to think abusing their equipment is normal practice. Thanks for showing jobs well done!

You guys are the best recovery specialists I've ever seen, really. Your understanding of the physics involved in moving very heavy things around is second to none. You guys take your time rigging and safely moving the "casualty". No bulls in a china shop. Yeah, I've seen some of those other outfits breaking equipment, dropping loads, tearing things up & a lot of unnecessary destruction, and I always think "Josh & Alex would never do that". Sometimes I wish I had a rotator, just to move stuff around, for the fun of it (I'm weird that way - geometry, arm & weight distribution - cool stuff). The lifting capability of your trucks is quite amazing, too. Your after-action-reports are great, too. Usually, I can see why you do things in a certain way, but not always, so the explanations are really great. Thanks for taking the time to produce the great videos. I really enjoy them.

This is a 2014 Grove RT9130E-2 130 ton 4x4x4 Rough Terrain Crane and it is totalled and non operating. While being transported it hit a bridge, rolled off the transport and rolled. It has 8095 hours on it and being sold for salvage for best offer only. The damage is actually extremely bad. The engine can not be started and the drivetrain is damaged. There is 214 pics online of the damage.

Amazing job brother, I would believe this crane lost it footing or lost a load due to degrees and reach ,in 98% of cranes tipping it is mostly operator error. I operate 50 T crane and heavy heavy float , the dynamics and principals are the same when it comes to rigging and grabbing a load. I know most tow company's don't require a certificate but I would highly recommend taking a full crane rigging course , the education is priceless and may save you and others from stupid mistake. Here in Toronto some heavy tow company's have taken the course due to some fatal errors. Cheers and blessings from Toronto Canada.

Hi from Canada, enjoy watching you guys. Your comment on the Canadian towing/ recovery shows about the drama is correct, but remember it is a tv show, so a little drama is needed. Your broken chains comment, could be partially correct regarding angle and load factors. You have to take into consideration the extreme weather, and temperature these guys have to work in as well, and the effects on the gear. Anyway that's my two cents, as I said enjoy watching you guys with no nonsense recovery work, and strait forward approach.
@PepesTowingService
@PepesTowingService 20 күн бұрын
I'm not a fan of the theatrics. Every call is like some life or death job. And good point about the weather, but that still shouldn't happen if you never exceed the working load limit. And it happens all the time down south and in my areas where it's always sunny.

That was a great lift. I hate those fake dama "reality" tv towing shows. I once watched one where they were recovering an EMPTY logging trailer from a 30' ravine, and playing it up like it was a life or death right at the ragged edge kind of scenario. I was sitting there thinking "Dude, if you can't haul an empty frame up without this much drama, maybe towing isn't for you."

I have to comment on something you said " Try to do people a favor and it backfires on you", Truer words have ever been said, one time I was at a truck stop, my road boss was there also, a truck driver came to me and asked if I would a pull-start for him, sure I said for $60, aired him up, dead pull, two feet, job done! I go back inside to finish eating and my boss made me pay for both our dinners and said, I was to ever do that again I was fired, he said what if his foot slipped off the clutch and caved in his grill/rad.....with no reciept, I could have been out a lot of money, lesson learned, $200 cash is pretty cheap "to do a favor"... Anyway gentlemen, great video's, hope to see you guy's in Baltimore......See ya in the ditch!

depending on how close a crane could get to the load something like a 100- 150 ton crane should have done it if the vehicle weighs 51 tons. don't know what they charge in LA but here it's about 5k for a crane like that . 2 trucks from peppes is probably near that cost

Hey Josh and Alex, I took one look at that yellow machine, and I immediately said, 100,000 pounds, looks like I was nearly spot on, I just needed to add another 20,000 pounds to that. Those Bailey's are absolute bosses, so are your rotators, lifted that crane machine like it was nothing. The counter weight being 44,000 pounds, technically can be done by a single rotator, its just that using a 2nd rotator, makes it easier. I also hate it when I lose things Josh, I understand the feeling. The driver from the 2nd job, he and his boss need to simmer down now. lol Great job breakdown at the end as usual!

So real quick on load cells they are scales they just have a digital output. The only type of scale that doesn’t measure force is a balance scale the load cells are just a metal bar with a foil attached and as the bar stretches the foil stretches too and as that foil stretches it’s resistance changes and this change can be converted to a force
