Will We Be Able To Lift This MONSTER Crane? This year we have been pushing our trucks more than ever while tackling the hardest jobs in our history. This one proves to keep up the record in terms of brute weight and size. If we get a container over loaded to 60,000lbs and have to lift it, we consider that heavy. Now imagine that lift, but DOUBLE the weight and that's what we have here.
This job came to us from ‪@NationalRecoveryUSA‬ to offload a wrecked Grove RT9130E-2 Rough Terrain Crane. The weight given to us was 110,000lbs, but it ended up being almost 10% more than that. The transport guy said the crane who loaded him stated it was 124,000lbs. When you're dealing with such large weight for two rotators, an almost 10% increase is insane.
Of course, Alex and myself are always up to the task and can do any job with Big Flipper and Hulk, our 75 and 50 ton rotators. I've seen some heavy lifts between two rotators, but have you ever seen a lift this heavy with one rotator being just a 50ton and both off the side? If so, link me! I would love to see anyone else who has done this.
And as stated at the end and throughout the video, if you are in this industry and do not have a load cell you need one! I went over in detail the reasons, but you can never truly be a master or proficient without knowing how the forces you are working with are being applied. I personally get my load cells from Massload here: bit.ly/tension...
If you're into super heavy lifting, I recommend the 25ton wireless tension link. For smaller applications, you should be fine with even the 10ton. It is by far the most valuable tool for an operator and can save your life and prolong your equipment.

I have a quick story about a crane just like this one. I worked in a government shipyard from 1993 till 2000. A government engineer and an operator were testing the crane. The engineer had the operator retract the outriggers and then angle the boom down from its upmost position. Well, with the boom nearly fully extended, it didn't take long for the center of gravity to be reached and over the crane went. It just so happens that the truck that the engineer had driven to the location was directly in line with the boom. The truck was totaled and the taxpayers got to buy a new boom for the crane, which was a rental.

Amazing job brother, I would believe this crane lost it footing or lost a load due to degrees and reach ,in 98% of cranes tipping it is mostly operator error. I operate 50 T crane and heavy heavy float , the dynamics and principals are the same when it comes to rigging and grabbing a load. I know most tow company's don't require a certificate but I would highly recommend taking a full crane rigging course , the education is priceless and may save you and others from stupid mistake. Here in Toronto some heavy tow company's have taken the course due to some fatal errors. Cheers and blessings from Toronto Canada.

Hey Josh and Alex, I took one look at that yellow machine, and I immediately said, 100,000 pounds, looks like I was nearly spot on, I just needed to add another 20,000 pounds to that. Those Bailey's are absolute bosses, so are your rotators, lifted that crane machine like it was nothing. The counter weight being 44,000 pounds, technically can be done by a single rotator, its just that using a 2nd rotator, makes it easier. I also hate it when I lose things Josh, I understand the feeling. The driver from the 2nd job, he and his boss need to simmer down now. lol Great job breakdown at the end as usual!

Super lift. Don't know what hiring a crane would cost, but I would guess it would be a lot more than you charged. A great job. What a place in the background. Untold numbers of equipment lined up neatly. Astounding. The post lift, lift was good. Your explanation of how the load cells would react to different rigging situations was very informative. Thanks for the video and the extra-curricular camera work. Thanks always for providing the best and most unique videos in the genre.

Perris is in Riverside County, between LA and San Diego. It's southeast of LA and north of San Diego, roughly halfway between the two. It's home to some kind of railway museum, which stands to reason, since it's an old railroad town. I think I remember it being a big hot air balloon town as well.

depending on how close a crane could get to the load something like a 100- 150 ton crane should have done it if the vehicle weighs 51 tons. don't know what they charge in LA but here it's about 5k for a crane like that . 2 trucks from peppes is probably near that cost

That was a great lift. I hate those fake dama "reality" tv towing shows. I once watched one where they were recovering an EMPTY logging trailer from a 30' ravine, and playing it up like it was a life or death right at the ragged edge kind of scenario. I was sitting there thinking "Dude, if you can't haul an empty frame up without this much drama, maybe towing isn't for you."
