I'm a Samoan living in the United States. I understand it's an emotional sport but there is no room for this kind of behavior in any sports for that matter. It saddens me he hasn't apologized for it. Some people here in the U.S calls us the same names and tells us to go back to where we came from. I'm use to it but hearing another Samoan calling his brother a monkey is absolutely unacceptable. The amount of racism they threw out particularly to Anglo and Celtic players like myself was nuts, especially when they knew they pissed you off and they'd giggle with each other and then pretend to be your mate. NRL needs to be really careful how they deal with this. If they set a precedent with a lengthy ban what's to stop a player from claiming Nathan Cleary whispered something offensive in their ear during a tackle just before the finals and gets suspended just on hearsay, could derail a team's entire year. This could open a massive tin of worms as there appears to be no downside for the accuser.

I think the NRL has kind of brought this sort of situation upon themselves by banning the 'Biff' as that now the players are not allowed to throw a punch to sort out an on-field issue, like they did in the good old days, they are resorting to the verbal. Calling someone a Monkey is NO different to calling them a Wombat or a Rabbit, and what go's on, on the field should be left on the field. ..FFS, this is a tough sport, ......Not a bunch of 3 year olds calling each other names in the kindergarten play ground, but sadly the game is deteriorating by this sort of ridiculous ongoing rubbish.
