The symbiote is like stem cells. They start out blank, but once they had latched onto Peter in his Spider-Suit, they had created an exact mold replica. It had taken on a life of it's own. And since Peter ripped it off in anger, the suit itself is vicious and vengeful. It draws it's strength from it's host and Eddie is more vengeful and ambitious than Peter.

Steel AB84Juju19 they planned to do a split and end the movie in the church where Eddie gets the symbiot and then Venom would be the main villain in the 4th movie But they didn't do it because Sony forced rami to put venom as the 3 and "Main villain" for Spider-Man 3 it's also sucks that venom was only for the last 20 minutes in the movie

The problem with Spider-Man 3 is that it was basically a compromise. You can't compromise when you're making the closing part of a billion dollar franchise. Sandman was in there because Raimi wanted him, Venom was in there because the studio wanted him, and GG2 was in there because they'd been hinting at it forever. Either they should've filmed 2 movies together (like the Matrix sequels) to really flesh everything out, or 1 movie with Sandman. Venom & Topher are both too great for what they got.

I wish people would stop bashing this movie. It has it's faults, and I will admit, I was disappointed with the fact that they crammed Venom in with very little screen time, but that was Sony's fault. Overall, this movie was awesome, I don't care what people say, even though I still prefer Spiderman 2 to Spiderman 3.

Mostof what Topher Grace - th actor who played Eddie Brock - said about his character, I did not see in the film. I feel a big flaw in Spiderman 3 was that there wasn't enough character development of some of the characters in Spiderman 3. Thus, the movie felt to just shift from one scene to the next to impress us more with the special effects. You know what: it was quite entertaining though, nonetheless. It's a good movie regardless.

Topher Grace was actually a big fan of Venom growing up, and he actually didn't want to play the role originally, because he didn't feel like he was right for the job. But I think his Brock was based more on the Ultimate Universe Brock, who wasn't like the classic Brock by Michelini.

Just from this small interview with Topher extolling some of the ideas behind what makes Eddie such a great character ( ie. His strong exterior and weak interior as the opposite of Peter) is just brilliant. The idea of making Eddie Brock a Mr.Ripley type of character is very strong. A whole film should have been devoted to this. It would have been amazing. As for the motorcycle and shades and ladies man thing, I think a LOT was left on the cutting room floor. They needed room for jazz dancing.

When Eddie became Venom, that should have been the end of his involvement in the movie. He should have been the main villian in Spiderman-4. This film should have been about Eddie's character development. Topher was fine....just didnt see him enough in the film. Though if Harry hadnt intervened, him getting jumped by those two would have killed him.

Sam didn't want Venom to star in his movies yet but while he was writing Spider-Man 3 with his brother Ivan Raimi and Alvin Sargent he began to appreciate the character himself based on how well Alvin Sargent wrote him in the screenplay and the fact that he fit the theme of Peter learning that he is not a sinless vigilante and that there also can be humanity in those he considers criminals.

From 1:03 to 1:25. I believe this is an original shot of the sequence where after Peter put the black suit on he jumps up the bell tower and then jumps down to the bell area. And I believe they re did that shot during post production. Does anybody notice that.

I didn't see a single fucking person on this planet say anything about Hardy not getting jacked. Raimi actually had a padded muscle suit for Grace that gave him an intimidating presence and made him look really awesome, and what did Hardy have? A shit ton of ugly CGI and a single sweaty hoodie for the entirety of the film. Great job. FYI, Grace is still the top Venom there ever was.

Well guys, I think bringing Venom back will mostly depend upon whether or not the symbiote genetically bound itself to Eddie Brock. This way even if parts of the symbiote survived the blast, it could reassemble itself and its host by cellular multiplication.

I think that Venom's actual face should've been shown more. In reality, Eddie only showed his face so that Peter would recognize him.He kept it on for most of the time he was with the symbiote. I mean, a brick almost hit his unexposed head, wouldn't it have been better if he had kept the face on to prevent that? Zepp900, I totally agree with you that Venom should be back in muscle. It was the one thing that made him too strong for Spiderman to fight aside from knowing all of Peter's moves.

@Meggiemoo2810 It was shaped as Spider-Man suit 'cause he was wearing the suit and Peter was a nice guy. Eddie has a very dark and weak interior, just like Topher said. This dark guy + the angry and rejected simbyote made Venom. The simbyote has become evil because spider-man reject it and made it feel angry and hate spider-man. All of its wrath mixed with Eddie's hate created Venom. Peter was a nice guy, Eddie wasn't and when the alien bonded with him it was feeling very, very angry.

I think Topher did a great job as an actor, but I feel the writers just sort of...wrecked it. You see Topher saying how Eddie Brock "drives a motorcycle" or "wears shades", etc., when we never see Eddie do any of these things. In the movie, he just seemed to be a backup character that was eventually thrown in to make a villain. I mean, Venom is seriously a cool villain, but the way he's portrayed is like the producers rushed to kill him off in front of everyone so people would stop asking...

In the commics Venom is also believed to be dead in the original 80s saga, the symbiote was killed by Styx but 'regenerated' and rebonded with Brock in the Maximum Carnage minisseries, I'm hoping it's the same here...

Perfect ending: In the final scenes, Sandman gets bitten by Venom, and he is dying by poisoning. He asks forgiveness from Spidey, tells him what happened with his uncle, and asks from him to have an eye on his daughter;s health. Then dies. Harry also dies like in the final scene, and Venom escapes. Spidey gets the girl back, and in the next scene he listens that a black suited figure similar to spidey has been sighted. Spidey then swings around to find him and the film closes like the others.

Seeing this mini-doc makes this movie even more of a shame. These are some great ideas for a new take on Venom, but they were never really fleshed out in the final film. I'd really like to see this idea given another go under better circumstances.

This Venom was embarassing as a character: he was seen maybe for thirty minutes throughout the entire film, only ten of those him being bonded with the symbiote, no sort of background whatsoever (just pops in and introduces himself), and plus he "hated" Peter Parker for the most idiotic reason: Peter called out his fake photo, so he must die?
