I like better the tone of the first one, this one is a little darker, but my favorite character from both movies is Spider Punk. He looks really cool. He reminds me of a movie from the 1970's called "The Warriors".

So fun fact about Lego Spider-Man. He was actually animated by a 14-year-old and the reason he was able to was because he did shot for shot Lego animation of the first trailer and the directors saw it and brought him on board

*Miles Morales (Earth-1610B)* We already know about Miles but fun detail this film retcons Miles universe to Earth-1610B so that it doesn't overlap with the Ultimate Comic. Earth-1610 from the comics is the Ultimate Universe where Miles first appeared in 2011 with this universe inspiring Miles universe in the first film. The film had big changes though like Peter dying at 26 instead of 16, also died in a battle with his villains outside Aunt May's Home. The origins of Miles is different as the film involves the Spider-Verse, plus Peter is Blonde in this universe rather than Brown with a very classic 2000s haircut. So it makes sense that they retconned it to a different universe. *Peter B Parker (Earth-616B)* Peter B Parker had the same thing happen where he was introduced as Earth-616 Spider-Man in the first film but now it's Earth-616B. In the comics Earth-616 is the mainline Marvel Universe, the Nodes you saw such as Gwen's dad saving the little kid is Earth-616 the main canon where every other Spider-Man branches from. So same reason with Miles I don't think they wanted Peter B Parker to overlap with the comics so they just made him from a different universe that's basically Earth-616 in terms of having a very similar history and character designs. *Doctor Strange (Earth-199999)* This was a fun nod to the MCU of course to a film I don't believe you've seen yet. So I'll leave it at that but yeah 100% a MCU reference, Every other live action Spider-Man like Toby and more so Andrew have visual appearances such as seeing Toby on the canon Nodes and a live action Andrew over Captain Stacy. *Miguel O'Hara (Earth-928)* Miguel is Spider-Man of Earth-928 active in the year 2099. Earth-928 is a possible future of Earth-616 (Mainline Marvel Comics) where the modern world became embroiled in a massive civil war between humans and mutants. In the end the humans won but suffered tremendous losses. Even fewer mutants survived. Miguel worked for Alchemax where he tried a genetic procedure, Miguel survived the process; his DNA was spliced with the genes of a spider and gained several powers. Miguel also has Talons and Fangs and Organic Webbing. Pretty much Alchemax was trying to re-create the powers of characters from the Age of Hero's the present day of Marvel Comics. Spider-Man/Peter Parker being one of these characters. Spider-Man 2099 is not that well known outside of the comic fandom. Batman Beyond, Terry McGinnis is a similar character, young teenager like Peter Parker who has to struggle with his everyday life while also being a Superhero mentored by an old Bruce Wayne in a Neo Futuristic Gotham City. But Terry the Batman of the future was introduced in a Animated Series with Batman Beyond which also acted as a sequel to the amazing Batman: Animated Series. So he was much more well known by the mainstream audience and is just a really amazing character set in a cool world. Beyond video games in the late 2000s early 2010s Spider-Man 2099 was not Mainstream at all until this film. So yeah I Hope we see a Batman Beyond and Spider-Man 2099 live action movie down the line. *Jessica Drew ( Earth-332)* Jessica is of course Spider-Woman but not the one from Earth-616, the mainline Marvel continuity . In this film she's a Variant of the Spider-Woman from Earth-332 depicted as a Black Woman with an Afro while Earth-616 Jessica Drew is white with straight black hair and a different outfit. You can actually see a comic accurate Jessica Drew Spider-Woman chasing Miles so I assume this is the mainline Earth-616 Spider-Woman. Jessica Drew being pregnant is also from the comic. She's got a very complex history in the comics relating to her origin. *Ben Riley (Earth-94)* Ben Riley (Taking Uncle Ben's first name and Aunt May's Maiden name) was a genetic clone of Peter Parker introduced in the original Clone Saga from the 1970s. Alot of stuff happened, pretty much Gwen Stacy showed up out of nowhere to the shock of Peter as this wasn't long after her Death. It was later revealed that a villain known as the Jackel cloned Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker who he blamed for the death of Gwen. The jackel kidnapps Ned Leeds and Spider-Man hunts the Jackel to his lab where he comes face to face with another Spider-Man. The lab is destroyed and the Clone of Peter is assumed to be killed in the lab explosion. But decades later we get the new Clone Saga in the 1990s that re-introduced that same clone. Its a long and overly complex storyline but summed up its revealed that the Clone survived. Then Peter is actually tricked into believing that he was the Clone this whole time since the original Clone Saga, this naturally pissed off so many Spider-Man fans. Peter (Thinking he was the Clone) left New York with his wife Mary Jane, leaving Ben (Who we the reader thought was the original Peter) to pick up the mantle of Spider-Man. After the reveal that our Peter was in fact not the Clone he took up the mantle of Spider-Man again while Ben became The Scarlet Spider in 1994 rocking his classic outfit with the blue hoodie over a really cool red Spider-Man outfit. The Ben Riley in this movie is a Variant of his Earth-616 counterpart from Earth-94 a fun nod to Web of Spider-Man Vol 1 118 from 1994 the first appearance of The Scarlet Spider. *Insomniac Spider-Man (Earth-1048)* The Spider-Man we see in between the two video game characters locked away is actually the Spider-Man of the latest Spider-Man games. You can easily spot him with the white Spider Symbol and he's even voiced by Yuri Lowenthal who voices Spider-Man in the games. In terms of the history of this Spider-Man it's extremally similar to the mainline Spider-Man from the comics but with Insomniac's own spin on the characters. *Hobie Brown (Earth-138)* Hobie, Spider-Man of Earth-138 is so cool and was actually bitten by a spider irradiated by illegal waste dumping taking up the title Spider-Man. He began to fight for freedom alongside his friend Captain Anarchy, heavily inspired and based on Captain America. He became the leader of the Spider Army fighting against President Ozzy Osborn's oppression. *The "Little Spider-Man" (Earth-26496)* This little guy who spoke to Miles is from The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008 to 2009) Animated Series voiced by Josh Keaton who also voices him in Across the Spider-Verse. You could also see Spectacular Spider-Man's Uncle Ben's death in one of the Canon Nods that showed all the deaths of Uncle Ben. I do find it funny that people have dubbed him "Little Spider-Man" as in his art style he's pretty tiny when beside the other Spider-People but the show is so good.

I definitely loved this one more, which is saying a lot because I love the first so much. This one just made me FEEL so many different emotions. Like Miles fighting Miguel. I literally said "yes!!!" so many times during the fight. Like when he lands that kick to his face or when he venom blasts him off of him. And freaking Mayday!! As a person, I identified with Peter B so much in that first movie. I became a dad in 2019 (a year after I saw the first movie) and now I have another reason to identify with him. That scene when Mayday pulls her little Spider-Man cap down turns me to butter and makes me tear up every single time. Also, I haven't heard anyone make the connection of what Miles' mom told him and what Miguel says. She says something to the effect of "when you're out in the big world, some people will tell you you don't belong" and basically that he shouldn't listen to them and know he belongs and will always belong with her (or something to that effect). When Miguel has him pinned and before Miles blasts him, he hatefully says "you don't belong here or anywhere" or something to that effect. Thought that was a nice touch to put in there!

I prefer the first movie. Don't get me wrong, this movie was great, but it ended so abruptly. If they could have just... tied up one part of the plot... give us a *little* resolution, then I think it wouldn't have been such a huge bummer to see that "To be continued" sign pop up. Like... they could have *easily* rescued Miles from his alternate self in 10 minutes flat. That would have been a better point to leave it off, I think. Also, lemme just say, Hobie (Spider-Punk) is probably my most favorite side character ever. He's on screen for only a few minutes, but he's got so much depth to him that it's kind of crazy. And he represents Punk Culture so well... it's just... SO GOOD. lol

Was the coming undone of that one reality really Miles' fault, he did what was in his nature to do. The Spiderman for that Verse was elsewhere saving people and may or may not have gotten their in time. In that Verse, Miles was a variable, but Miles said that this was the Spot's fault, from his perspective that might be true, but I don't think he went back far enough to blame who was really responsible. Who wanted that collider to be built to begin with? One thing the first movie did really well was focus back on the hero and his relationships, but the damage that was done by the Kingpin, even though he was in jail and the machine was destroyed, Miles' reality was changed and it wasn't made right at the end of the movie, which as a result a Spot came crawling out of the shadows.
