Fun fact: when they pitched this movie, they didn’t even mean for one of the biggest takeaways to be to preserve the environment. It was meant to be just a film about robot love, but as they came up with the plot, and they realized how strong the imagery of abandoning earth was, they incorporated that theme into the rest of the movie.

It’s so ironic that this movie was distributed and co-produced by Disney, considering how this film is a criticism of capitalism and consumerism (it’s almost like the movie Idiocracy mixed with an arthouse film if I’m being 100% honest). I’m pretty sure the Mouse would never want to release a film like this ever again, let alone Pixar making something so mature, artistic and grounded for a movie that can appeal to kids. They pretty much just want their entire film slate going forward to be nothing but them pandering to the nostalgia market with mainly live-action remakes of their animated films and constant Marvel and Star Wars shows and movies.

I feel like the ending provides a very good answer to the "Ship of Theseus" question. Wall-E has all/most of his parts replaced, including his equivalent of a brain. When he comes to, he's no longer himself. He's just a robot with a job to do. However, when Eve and Wall-E "kiss" (when the spark occurs), he slowly comes to. When he replaced his parts earlier in the film, he was still the same robot. He just got a replacement piece, akin to how we as humans have organ transplants. It wasn't the parts that made him Wall-E, it was his spark of life and personality. After he gets his spark back, he becomes his old self. Changed, both physically and emotionally, but the same old robot as before.

Fun fact: the scene where wall e and eve are stuck in the garbage dump, it was initially eve who got attacked. Wall e then saved eve and they continued on their mission. However this was changed to wall e getting attacked instead because we then see eve choosing wall e over her mission of saving earth, the first time where she made a choice, that too one against her code

16:45 to be fair, although none of us would be around when Wall-E becomes public domain, I would love a prequel drama on how BNL took over and destroyed the world, maybe including some internet theories such as Earth being trashed was an inside job so people will go on their starline cruisers. Considering how impressively well done some fans have made replica Wall-E and Eve robots, it could work very well for either animation or live action (probably live action to stay consistent with the footage in the film)

Fun Fact: WALL-E is not only the second Pixar film to be inducted in the National Film Registry (the first one was the original Toy Story obviously), it's also the first one to be distributed by the Criterion Collection (yes, the same company that identified films like Malcolm X, The Princess Bride, Blood Simple and every single Wes Anderson film to date as works of art). The latter was because the director (Andrew Stanton) gave them his word. It's just that GREAT! 😍😍😍

spilling the milk has literally become family guy, because the all their reactions are just random side tangents completely irrelevant to the thing they're watching

I grew up with this movie, proud that it still lives on with kids today.

I think Wall-E is my favorite Pixar movie. For a lot of the movie since the main characters don’t talk a lot it’s just pure aesthetic.

14:22 Brings back so many memories of the short! The guy just repairs that same fucking pole for the entirety of the events that happen during the movie and constantly fails 🤣 (And if you want to know, it’s called Bern-e. You can watch it on youtube right now)

Recently my dog named Mo died, I owned him for a long while. I wanted to call him Wall-E but already had a Rat named that. Kinda went to calling him MoMo. He was a good dog..

The lead character designer of Wall-E claims his biggest regret is not making him realistic enough. If you look closely, there is no feasible way Wall-E can contract into a cube with all the parts in there. The designer spent weeks traying to come up with a functional design, and essentially had an intervention where he was told to chill out and move on.
*Wall-E* CUTEST movie I have EVER seen!!!
