i just listened to the kentucky headhunters version instead of singing never been a sinner i never sinned they said i am a sinner and i sinned but i got a friend in jesus, i take it that this is a church band and they kept the original verse in this song that is sad !

This song is rife with Gnosticism (spirt good, body inconsequential), but most people in church are Gnostics and don't know it when they hear it in their face in this song. This song also apostatizes the faith. Who needs Jesus, especially a crucified Christ, when "I've never been a sinner, I've never sinned." So, the song, though fun and with a cool groove, is oxymoronic. But fun and cool grooves rules the day these days. there is a time and place for everything, worship is not the time and place for such a song.

I agree with you. The guy who wrote it was not particularly religious, and wrote it simply because he liked how gospel music sounded and wanted to do his own version of it, hence the theological issues. That said, it's still a great song, but not for church.

Jesus forgave your sin. Now, it is as if you had never sinned. Otherwise, Christ will have died for naught if folks will always remind you when you were a sinner!

We r all sinless as long as u bélieve in jesus as soon as u bélieve u er saved that he paid for us in full an made it that easy for the everyone in the world for God so loved the world that he gave his only forgotten son who ever bélieves will have interal liife❤an that folks comes straight from God remember everyone is welcome to God table just as u r an u need not change a thing❤

Excellent job. Maybe you could have substituted "I've never sinned" with, "I know I've sinned, but I got a redeemer in Jesus ." Something like that. Good job otherwise.
