I think the reason the AI attack on Green ultimately failed is Red and Blue put so much pressure elsewhere on the map that Yellow and Teal had to abandon their attack on it. That's more efficient than what Red was doing earlier (AKA rushing its troops all over the map and never focusing on one target.) The AI has a real problem with focusing on critical parts of the enemy's infrastructure before building siege engines. That massive wave of knights Red churned out could probably have taken down a town centre if directed straight there to attack en masse.

It would take years and years to make one. RTS AI game is the hardest to create, even if it's a self-learning AI. I don't know if the pro-progammers *I don't know how to call people who good at creating AI/Programming/something around that* can handle such a hard things like that. But yeah, it's about "who is the best AI" but to become the best, you must make it as perfect as you can.

@@SenYeon How is it hard? I used to do this as a 7 year old kid. You create 16 teams (on a pad) and you play through 4 brackets with best of three. Then the winner of each group goes to semis, then winner of those go to finals. You don't need to program anything.

4:00 In a previous game it was shown the AI can build the Krepost. I asume it is tagged as "tower" and "stable", two things the old AI understands. The rest of the bonuses is plain eco.

I played a regicide nomad recently with the new AI and they left their castles isolated and built their starting TCs far from them for the most part, which was pretty stupid. Also, one of the AIs was dominating and then suddenly lost because its castle where the king was (which in this case was not very far from his base, actually) was taken down and the king ran into enemy troops instead of hiding in a more protected castle/TC. So yeah, regicide is not a game mode that suits well for the AI.

It looked like Green got left to fend for itself as Blue and Red crippled Orange's economy. Then with it being basically 3v3 Red rushed out Imperial Age so it could start steamrolling. Once they got their late game army out they crushed Yellow so Green could recover.

Interesting video. I suspect the 250 pop might helped the new AI. Judging by the villager high it seems that the HD AI doesn't know how to boom that well with the added pop, since teal who was untouched for the most part until late game, had a significantly fewer amount of vills than red and blue. It might be good to try this again with standard 200 pop.

I believe it might be because it gets too insane to manage. I mean the optimal strat in that case would be to go for around 300 villagers, economically speaking, and that's insane to manage. Imagine how fast you burn through your resources and all.

Not exactly. Their proper resources are always generated around the town center. Even a 2-player map with 8 players would generate 2 boar, 1 berries, 8 sheep, etc, for each player. Larger maps do have slightly more "neutral" resources around (random mall piles of gold around the map etc), but with 7 players a 6-player map is preferable to 8-player because I wanted to make it possible for them to scout each other and attempt early aggression.

Hello Spirit, I have a question which, since you are the master of numbers in AoE2, you might answer me. After the Malay nerf that their unique tech only replaces gold costs of 2 hands with food, do they actually cripple themself, if they get it in team games? My train of thought here is, since gold is infinite in Team games, and the Malay end up paying the same total amount of ressources as everyone else, couldnt a generic civ with trade carts actually get the 45 food and 20 gold for 1 Champion faster than the Malay can get the 65 food for one two handed? I watched your gold income and farm update video and even if we say Malay can make only fish traps with 0 travel, in your video you calculated thats 29 food per minute while farmers make only 24, but in my calculation that means 3 ships for malay and 3 villagers (2 on food and 1 trade cog since we are on a water map) will make 87 food per minute for the Malay and 58 food and about 30 gold per minute. Per 10 minutes that makes 870 food for malay or 13,38 two handed and for the generic civ that makes 580 food and 300 gold or 12,89 champions with gold for 2 more to spare... (Which they can make if they use fishh traps instead of farms too) So in the end, the Malay spend 1350 ressources to end up with half a two handed swordsman more every 10 minutes if the enemy is not using fishing boats and actually 1,5 less if they do... Is that really worth it?
