I didn’t use heat , no colour, no anti dandruff shampoo or anything from the above mentioned facts but still I get split ends

Exactly! Even when we cut, eat vitamins, drink lots of water, so I'm wondering if it's just a natural thing that happens bc supposedly EVERYTHING causes it 😂

Do you get regular trims? Do you always style your hair with tight elastics, do you over use old aggressive brushes, do you sleep with satin pillow or bonnet to protect hair at night, do you moisturize ends regularly with either conditioner, leave in conditioner or oil. All of these can be key factors too

Hi, Dr. Elis - Would you do a video specifically on hair loss?! I’m in my mid-30’s & I already feel like my hair is thinning! 😩 I also have noticed that whenever I gently comb/brush my hair or wash my hair I see more hair fallout/“shedding” too! 😭 It’s hard to know if it’s because of stress or genetics. And I’m curious about different products to try too. Thanks for your input! 💛

Eat a diet high in healthy fat, protein and drink lots of water. Stop using conditioner and any conditioning products competing and switch to using a tiny amount of argan, coconut, castor, jojoba or almond oil after washing and air drying. Gently brush oil through. I have noticed a significantly less amount of hair fall since I stopped using conditioners and I was even using the “healthy” kind.

So I have the absolute worst split ends and breakage to where my hair is thinning out. But I do not use heat, maybe 5 times ever in 32yrs. I dont dye my hair. I only brush my hair after a shower. I don't rub my hair with towels ever. I'm not rough when washing. The amount of hair I lose when I so brush or shower is enough to make a wig...every time. I don't get how I still have such bad split and dry hair
@munecabonbon2 ай бұрын
Are you brushing it properly? I heard you shouldn't brush your hair when it's wet. Try brushing it before you shower. And since it's dry try using a hydrating hair mask 🤔
@SeanL-jw9rrАй бұрын
Definitely don't brush it wet. I just learned this one. The heat is only bad if you overdo it, ...I almost always use a blow-dryer at a distance (or with the heat off) to jump-start the drying process, and always use a wide tooth comb first/ Honestly, I feel like improper brushing is 90% of the problem, (for most people). This includes being lazy and brushing too high up in the tangles (I did this often, lmao). Someone else also wisely mentioned lightly spraying your ends with some mineral oil before brushing out. I am definitely going to try this trick, but yes, brushing seems to be one of (if not the most) common reason for split-ends existing (aside from maybe genetics and nutrition), and if you're anything like me, you probably have weak hair genetics on top of bad habits, which all work together to foil your good hair day! Lmao. Hope maybe this helps!

Do you have any thoughts on keratin treatments/ brazilian blowouts for curly hair? try to use conditioners with proteins and oils and shampoos (based on your scalp type)! have a routine and use a hair mask once a week as well as having a leave in and a hair oil to protect your ends and lock in moisture! try to find your hair porosity and create the hair care routine based on that. for me all of these things helped my hair retain length more and grow faster. 😊
@SeanL-jw9rrАй бұрын
@@rob3rta_a All I can tell you is: ...1.) Wait until your hair is fully dried to brush it. 2.) Always brush with a wide-tooth comb first, and from the bottom of your hair, slowly moving to a higher starting point as you meet less resistance. 3.) And finally, don't beat your hair up in the shower like I used to (I'm a male, and I used to rub my hair and scalp vigorously, (and for several minutes), as I did when I had normal (short) hair. Apparently I was washing some natural protective oils out, while just beating on my hair unnecessarily, lol. Hope maybe this helps, ladies!

In the past 4 weeks my hair suddenly became much dryer than before and it happend in the similar time frame when I increased my use of retinol... Maybe its just a total coincidence but I was wondering if there was any data about that.....

Hi Dr. E - I am totally lost in the great blow-dry debate. I thought that the research is that blow-drying keeps your hair cleaner and prevents split ends? I blow dry on a no heat setting. I have ridiculously fine hair that doesn't grow and split ends of course with my unblessed situation. I've stopped coloring (waiting for it to grow out), I use olaplex 7 and peptide end repair and leave in conditioner after washing etc. So blow dry or air dry as the final step?

Hi Dr Ellis, thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge with us, we learned so much from you! Quick question. I am endlessly looking for hair products to make my hair appear less drying. I just looked at the ingredients to the unite detangler, and it has so much alcohol in it. Doesn’t that kind of negate the good properties or ingredients in the products? I guess if it works it works I’m just curious about long-term use.

As a curly hair woman I cannot relate to not washing my hair strands. I do not recommend washing it like you are in a Garnier commercial, but you have to remove all that gels/creams. I believe we usually leave around a cup of styling products in.

In my experience hair defines the better when is properly clean (not necessarily stripped). I would say if you hair get wet easily you can get away with a lot, if your curl pattern doesn’t show much while washing it you may need to go a little more intense with the cleansing step, but I wouldn’t suggest not washing your hair I suggest @manesbymell (more so if you hair wets easily, but she is good either way) if your hair doesn’t show the curl easily look for this video “Detailed wash day routine for definition and Hydration 30 day hair detox for @itstruedestiny (I haven’t watched her for long but hair routine is somewhat similar to mine)
